I have an XLT front wheel drive with Cooper discoverer SRX TIRES add when my 2023 was new.
Ordered a 2025 AWD looking for ideas for better overall wear and traction over stock tires.
Cooper Discoverer 225 60 R 17 not available anymore...

I'd recommend Tire Rack, which has some wonderful tire buying guides.

FWIW, I love my Michelin Defender 2 tires. Absolutely love them.

I purchased these new line of tires for my lariat (225/60/r18) I like them really well.
The slightly larger size (235/65/R17). might be the one for you the 29.03" diameter will get you closer to the actual mph match to GPS MPH.
CONT TRUE CONTACT TOUR 54.

I'll be using these Hankook 235/75R17 with a Rough Country suspension 2.5" lift when my week old Maverick gets out of the body shop. My land is a flooded muck mess right now. It's supposed to freeze today so that's going to be easier to drive out of.

Tire Rack is good as is Discount Tire. Both owned by the same company.

OP: A few recommendations here. Also do a search for tires in the thread title search. The search function works great.

Falkin Rubitreks went on my Ford Escape. They were produced to offer a quieter road ride than the well known very popular Faulkin AT’s
They are very quiet and chunky.
Only got a thousand miles on . It’s my beater, I drive it on
Snow or ice or any other odd situation.
At my Ford dealer. $142.99 each and purchased on the past Black Friday sale.
Got me a $150.00 rebate so basically buy three get one free.
Bout $530 all said and done.
I got bonus points letting Ford get the rebate while they gave me Ford points that I’ll use for services like oil changes n such.

Had Yokohama Geolandar 015’s on my Bronco Sport, A very good AT but they went up to I think $169.00 each. I’ll pass.

first thing to consider is if you will do much driving in winter conditions. if you do it infrequently, or don't depend on winter driving for your job, then you probably don't need dedicated winter tires.

*however*

you might as well get 3 peak mountain snowflake rated tires. on the tirerack the filter is 'severe snow rated'. look through tires in the OE size (225/65-17) or since you have a hybrid, maybe 235/65-17 at most. (I know people with hybrids have run much larger tires. most wouldn't, though.)

I would definitely get a 3pms rated all-season living in Lee's Summit / KC Metro area.

Agree here.

I've got a set of Michelin Crossclimates which work excellent on snow (3 Minnesota winters and counting on my car).

Treadwear as you say is important to you. I remember seeing a CR article a few weeks ago noting that while the Crossclimates are say 30% more expensive than a different tire, they last twice as long or something...

Michelin CrossClimate2 Tire Review - Consumer Reports

Found the article...

Tires That Last the Longest - Consumer Reports

CR has the Federal Uniform Tire Quality Grading System for treadwear info in their reviews (the UTQGT might be on tirerack and other sites, not sure, but wouldn't be surprised if sellers don't list it). Basically 100-1000 is the range. So if you have a tire rated at 100, and someone else has one rated at 400, theirs are expected to last 4 times as long (if same weight, use, accelerating and braking, etc). The Crossclimates are rated a 640.

I'd recommend using that information when looking at treadwear. Anecdotal evidence usually is a bit tougher to go over. I might like my tires more than my friends on his same car. But he might drive with heavy braking and acceleration... This is a science based rating system that takes out those potential factors.

One other thing to note, I went from Michelin Primacy's to theCrossclimates on my EV. My mileage dropped by about 10% going to these. Worth it to me for the winter driving, but if you are looking at mpg, don't forget that.

On my lariat the primacy OEM were 45k tires and last November I went with Continental true contact your 54 which are rated 840 with 80k milage rated and cost less than the primacy after market version rated 55k miles. They are light weight and optimized for milage, have heat activated polymer, low rolling resistance, and good rain and LIGHT snow. 3k miles and seem ok, will see long term...
Also have 60 day satisfaction guarantee probably since they are new line of tire by Continental. When I bought they also had $110 CC gift card if set of 4 purchased.

I had the Michelin Primacy MXM4's on my car as the OEM's. I think it was 35k miles when I swapped them off due to wear (car weighs a bit more and I drive it a bit harder). Got the Crossclimates and 40k more miles they are still in great shape.

But really shows how the longetivity factors into the cost there. Like you say, not only are they costing less, but if you get nearly double the mileage, your price per mile for your tires is way down.
