My 2024 Hybrid Lariat will be here soon - any day - within the week - by 6/1 (10 days), take your pick. Ordered 2/16, scheduled 5/6, production 5/8, built 5/9, shipped 5/10. Estimated delivery started 5/31-6/13 and like others was moved up. Patiently waiting.

My post is a request for what to expect when I walk in to close the deal. While I've bought many new vehicles over my many decades of buying, my last experience on a 2017 Silverado was horrendous! If they hadn't already taken my 2001 trade in I would have walked out. Seems it's gotten worse since my very first new Chevy in 1972. At least for this one I've already sold my truck and will be making a cash purchase. Would hate to walk out, but have decided thats an option.

I know dealers vary greatly, and I did find and read the dealer review thread with a positive comment for mine, Gary Gonzales at Future Ford of Roseville, Ca.That's hopeful. But I assume when I walk in I'll be handed off to a 'closer', possibly a high pressure sales guy attempting to increase dealership profit margin.

Reading here I see that an ESW could be worth it, not so in California since we can't buy through Granger or Flood Ford.

What else can they throw at me? I'd like to be prepared to just say NO!

I am a reasonably proficient shade tree mechanic, have yet to face a repair that I couldn't do with the help of youtube videos. Just this past weekend changed the CMP sensors on my son's 2005 GS35.

Thanks for any feedback! This forum is totally awesome!

Expect the extended warranty game as well as a maintenance plan… both are big $$$$ for them.

Congrats on your new truck! I also have a '24 Lariat Hybrid which I love. This probably goes without saying, but maybe someone can learn from my mistake. This is the first car I have ever "ordered." A few days after delivery, I noticed a very small dent on the right front fender of the truck. I had done very little driving at that point, and it was not dented in a parking lot, etc. At that point, however, it was too late to claim it was there when I picked it up, although I am sure that was the case. Be more diligent than I was, and take a close at everything before driving off the lot!

RE: Dealer games - Communicate with your salesperson NOW that you don't want them to ADD anything. No after-market crap. No security tracker, no paint protection, no nitrogen in the tires, nada except the way Ford shipped it.

Use email so you have a record. Ask them in advance to itemize and list all the [junk fees] and charges and to give you an itemized out the door price. Some like reg, license and sales tax are mandatory, doc prep fees sadly are part of the game. I think in CA we are charged a tire disposal fee at the time of purchase.

Plan to endure almost 2 hours of fuckery. Bring a banana or energy bar. They should have bottled water as a courtesy. They will push extended warranties hard. Then they will do it again and tell you they are giving you a "special price" on it. Be polite but firm. Get control of the situation. Say, "while I think about it, let's move along". Or break his/her stride by going to the restroom multiple times.

You can always buy the extended warranty next week. Of course they will say you won't get the "special" price. Tell them you will just take your chances.

Inspect the roof. Climb into the bed. In CA, I believe our Mavs cross into the US in Arizona, then up to the rail yard near San Bernardino? Then by truck to the dealership. So unlikely it would have encountered hail damage. But check anyway.

Check for the spare tire, the jack and tools and the small funnel. Check the upholstery for any defects, rips, etc. Ask where the release button is for the fuel filler door. A good salesman will offer to pair your phone. Know on your phone where to find "settings"-->Bluetooth-->add/pair a device.

I was in and out of my dealer in under twenty minutes. Got a few questions when I declined the extended warranty from the guy that handles the paperwork, but otherwise perfectly smooth transaction. Every dealer is different though. Mine really stresses no BS: no doc fees, no big sales pressure, etc.

I picked mine up on 2/27 this year, I spent 3.5 hours waiting in the showroom. The deal was already worked, numbers were done, just had to sign and give them the checks from me and the bank. Once I was awarded an audience with the finance manager, I was out the door in 10 minutes. I did witness a loud verbal altercation between sales associates who eventually took it outside and while I didn't see blows, it kept going for a little bit.

About 6 weeks later, I received the title without the lien holder listed. I then spent until yesterday waiting on the dealership to fix the title request, the dmv to process, and the bank to receive it.

Most dealers will throw everything and the kitchen sink, know what you want if anything,
undercoating, warranty, coatings, tire warranty's, there not going to let you leave till you see the finance guy/aftersales guy we call them in the dealer. If they can pick up a point or 2 on financing its don't look like much But cost you a lot in the end, know what the rate is ahead of time.
I avoided all this by telling them am only keeping the truck till the warranty expires, 3/36.
then I bought the warranty on line for half price. Also if your getting the extended warranty the price goes by age and miles, I waited a year and only had 5k miles and it cost me 150.00 more, sooner is better if you want it.
