Seems to be 5lbs of nothing needed. Maybe something needed for the awd drivetrain. Thinking about unbolting it because I can’t think of why it’s there.

Located driver side, rear

Good idea. I see a lot of stuff under the hood that I don't recognize so I'm going to yank it out too.

It's the absolute best way to find out if something is really necessary... :devilish:

I have read in a few places (maybe threads here or other places on internet) it is a tiedown bracket used when the Mav is being shipped via rail, etc. Butl this is all conjecture as no one knew 100% for sure.

Can you estimate the ground clearance at the brackets lowest point? Sure would hate to get hung up on a rock/stump when off-roading and find out it serves no purpose after shipping to dealership is complete.

Updated thought: I wonder if that bracket should remain installed in case there's a need for a flatbed tow? Perhaps being a unibody Ford added that bracket if there's no structurally secure place (ie no frame) to tie down the rear of the vehicle. A tow truck driver may inadvertently damage suspension component(s) by using them to latch the vehicle down. Just conjecture on my part as I don't have my Maverick yet to inspect the rear undercarriage.
