Good evening all, first post here. Sorry if this has been discussed, I couldn't find a recent topic here if so.

Does anyone know what STOP SHIP means when pertaining to Mavericks that have missed their original delivery dates?

Long story short, my Maverick was scheduled to be delivered last week, first new truck of my whole life and I'm 68! Well, my dealer just called today to inform me that my delivery time is now late and likely unknown even though my Maverick has already been built and shipped. When my dealer checked the status, there's a note reading: STOP SHIP. I guess several of their built Mavericks have updated to show this same note in their system. I don't know how many that is or what the delay is but my salesman didn't sound very confident giving any more information than that and an apology for the delay. He's a bright youngman and has been very prompt on updating me, usually he's emailed me the day before I even get the official update from Ford. He knew this truck in and out when I stopped in to order it late June. Anways, he just said he hasn't seen this before and it has me a little concerned since he's usually just been sharp as an arrow with this whole process. There is a new date range in their system but he made it sound like it could be inaccurate just as the first was. I stopped in there this afternoon just to say hello and reassure him I knew it wasn't any of his fault. We got to talking and he pulled up and showed my order status looked like on his end. I pointed out the rail car number from the last update, he did a quick search on how to trace the car, and to our surprise, the rail car is moving along. We thought how could this be. Either my Maverick has already been dropped off somewhere and the rail cars moved on to other work, or somehow it's currently several states away despite shipping 5 weeks ago, or this rail car is going to make it's way all the way back down to Mexico for my Maverick to be loaded on and try again. We were just scratching heads on that one. He's going to keep checking in on the rail car and on the status of my order. I will post updates here as I learn more. If anyone here knows what this is or how much of a delay we could be talking about please share.

Thank you,
-Mark

My Maverick is a Lariat AWD with tow package and luxury package. I'm very excited to get it.

Thank you T, that was quite the read. Doesn't seem like much solid information there either, at least I'm not alone in this from the looks of it. I do like the idea of this possibly being Ford pro-actively checking for known issues. Should mine have whatever it is they are looking for, I'm glad they should be fixing it before I drive off the lot. I can only assume this does not affect already delivered units as I think we would see recalls being issued if so?

Still sounds like nobody knows for sure the cause or how long the delay could be. Which is really what I'd like to know most of course. My fear is that whatever is defective or has issues I really hope Ford has the needed parts to fix or replace, otherwise we could be in for a very long wait unfortunately.

Does your Mav have a sunroof? There has been a recall on Bronco Sports and Mav with sunroof.

Dunno how I missed that there was a recall issued on Mavericks for their moonroof. Got any links that describe it in more detail?

Ford Maverick What is STOP SHIP? Delayed delivery IMG_2487

As you can see, mine has been on stopship since Oct 14th. That doesn't seem to hold anything up, since mine has finally made it to SC. Just waiting on it to get to the dealer...

No sun roof on my order.

However, that article does leave me with some concerns though. The article is dated 10/29, it says the issue could lead to glass detaching and becoming a road hazard, all the while the article says 1,036 vehicles are affected and owners should WAIT for communication from Ford which will not begin until 11/29. So it will take Ford a month to communicate the issue to those affected and get them in to schedule repair? That does not seem right at all. How/why could it take that long if this Ford Author is already aware of the details. Even more, what if the dealer can't get the replacement glass in for months? Are those owners just supposed to park their Bronco Sports until all is well? Maybe duck tape the sun roof down, that will look nice. Reason I mention all of this, I don't like how that situation is being handled, gives me a little concern for how issues will be dealt with by Ford in the future.

Sadly the concern at Ford is such that once vehicle goes through the mousetrap a device that reads the vehicle ID it belongs to the dealer. So until parts are made available to the dealers Ford does not want dealers to deliver said vehicles. Although dealer is paying for them.

What can happen is vehicles built after problem was discovered may end up being delivered and sold before vehicles on hold. No they do not use parts scheduled for assembly line builds and send ro the dealer.

Although NHTSA doesn't list it for the Maverick and the Ford documents on the Bronco Sport don't mention the Maverick. Possible they could have dealers holding delivery to inspect if it is an issue requiring action for the Maverick as well.

Yes, I'd seen the recall on the Broncos but I'd read the Bronco recall was all due to a 2 day window back in April where they didn't allow adhesive to dry. Seems odd that this same issue would impact Mavs built 6 months later.
