I still can’t decide what I want to do sub-wise
4 8’s was a local shop’s suggestion, but my initial thought is what you stated “having to get used to them”
I’m a 12’s kinda guy and so far my only options are cut a hole and put them in the bed or fill the rear floors with boxes (or I guess remove the backseat fully)

Thanks for sharing, your box looks awesome
The box looks great! Do you have more pics of it finished? Also how does it sound with the subs so close to the bottom of the seats? I have a sundown 10 with the thick rubber ring and was worried if I had a box made for it it would be close like yours to hitting the bottom of the seats and not sound good or damage the sub.
depending on what sub it is it might rub but you need to make sure that sub can work in a small sealed box . Most Sundown subs need a lot of air space. Ive built a lot of boxes for Sundown subs.

It’s a sundown sd2. It’s their older shallow sub line that I took it out of my f150 before I sold it. It needs .5 cu ft for a sealed box so I think it’s possible but would need a fiberglass box.

Subs in and covered in blue carpet, still getting used to 8‘s cause they don’t hit as hard but still very loud

didn't see this before my other reply.

really excellent carpentry! and fiberglass work. I assume you've done this before, haha. how much power are you giving those? I wonder if 2 high performance 8s (instead of 4x shallow mount) would be better.

I have a single Alpine R2 8" 2ohm DVC running on a Kicker 500.1 so it's seeing 500w and it hits pretty hard for an 8" in less than .4 ft3.

The Skar SK 1500.1 is runs about 1700watts , looked at a lot of different 8’s and wanted to run 4 of them. I’m a big Alpine fan for mids didn’t think about them for subs to expensive and would sound the same. I’m not a big mainstream subs guy like JL, Kicker, Alpine you can get so much better for the money with Skar, Sundown,DD and many more. I’ve been building boxes for a long time and appreciate the compliment. I can try to answer any questions you. Since you already have the Alpine I’d try it out.

I think there's a lot of stuff that works well when set up properly and I think Skar has a lot of fans for good reason. 1700w is 425 each which is a whole lot.

If I could hear your system in person I would have a better impression, and that really was just my first thought regarding your setup. The post I quoted said you were still getting used to 8s and I saw you have the shallow mount models. Two Skar 8s in some other model is what I meant but I certainly don't expect you to change now.

8’s have a different sound then 10’s or bigger it’s more punchy then deep bass. Really good for rock music. The depth of the box was my issue for choosing subs , a bigger 8 takes up more internal space inside the box , I have 2 Sundown SD-3 10’s laying around and they would have worked also just never had 4 8’s before.
