Finally we got to the crux of your issues with the Santa Cruz... believe I pointed out a few times that it sometimes comes down to the eye of the beholder. Again unless you are speaking to the hybrid the MPG between the NA engine in the SC and the Ecoboost in the Maverick are really not enough difference to say "god awful" IMHO. Maverick according to the EPA 4.2 gallons per 100 miles and Santa Cruz 4.3 gallons per 100 miles. Pretty insignifican .IMHO........lastly Ford has had most recently one of the worst reputations for quality amongst vehicle manufacturers. Ford reserves more monies for repairs of their vehicles than anyone in the market currently including GM . Reliability for Hyundai and Kia were rated higher for the 2022 model year vehicles than Ford by JD Power. Edmunds ranks the Santa Cruz second best among small trucks to the Honda Ridgeline. The Maverick also finished behind the Santa Cruz in reliability based upon their criteria. Just some data to add to the discusson.
Reliability on a 2022 LOL. JD powers another lol. Kia and hyundai have a LONG time reliability issue. Believe it or not. But sure I think the SC is ugly. Its a truck George Jetson would buy. Yes Old reference.

I think the word “Trojan” in your screen name is a story teller: ie “Trojan horse”. Which was used to infiltrate and attack. Sounds much like a nice way to refer to yourself as a troll.

that being said like what you like, but nothing built by human hands will ever be perfect. It’s impossible. At least with Ford you hear about issues and recalls.
Trojan happens to reflect a college I support and Ol Hickory represents Andrew Jackson since I live in Tennessee so you are a hellva conspiracy theorist. As far as your with Ford comment...I've heard every issue and recall on the SC a hellva lot faster on the SC than the dealers and that goes for Ford dealers as well. Never seen such lack of knowledge in my life for the Maverick order process . With that said I will say that dealing with both dealerships I found the Hyundai/ Subaru dealership a lot more knowledgeable about the Santa Cruz than the Ford dealers were and they didn't try to screw me like I've seen many times with Maverick folks waiting for their trucks although the small Ford dealership I dealt with sold me mine at MSRP but I did wait 19 months. Anyone that thinks Ford has done a great job with their communication has not been paying attention. Ford has screwed this thing up from the get go. They have made promises they did not keep. They have done one shetty job in providing information that was accurate in the loosest terms of the word. Anyone who says different has not been around since this first ordering process began. Hell they changed the way they were going to fill orders so many times I couldn't keep track.

Looks like they put a bed on a Chevy Equinox. It reminds me of a cheap FWD car from the 90s or early 2000s but I can't place it yet. When they were sticking all kinds of plastic garbage on the side of them to make them look sporty.

I'm posting about what I have experienced firsthand and you are posting about what you read online. I haven't had problems with my Mav yet. I will post about them when I do. How many problems did you have with your Mav that you feel the need to hang around on a forum related to a vehicle you don't own and point out all the flaws in that that you never experienced?

Everything I posted about I experienced directly.
I posted not only what I have read but what I experienced. This section is about competition to the Maverick , I've owned both so I see no need to not participate in a discussion on both vehicles and on both forums. Regarding problems with my Maverick I was fortunate. During that time however there was a recall for potential more engine fires. Fortunately mine missed that recall as far as I know since it did fall inside the recall window.

This is from your post. You had all these things happen to your Maverick?
"Ford wouldn't cover bad applied and peeling paint, a badly mounted passenger seat, rattles in the windshields and cracked windshields , misaligned body panels, engines cutting out in traffic on both engines, engines destroying themselves, bad axles, seat wrinkles and stitches coming apart and owners that had taken vehicles in for service and getting misdiagnosed."

I guess number and ratings based upon accepted Automobile evaluators don't count. Edmunds also rated the Santa Cruz over the Maverick and was particularly impressed with the SC's handling and quietness whereas the Maverick it felt wasn't. In fact it used a description as "wobbly" in comparison. As far as cladding seems like a lot of Maverick owners are adding plastic fender extensions for cladding around the wheel wells at an extra cost. Of all the vehicles that need plastic cladding I would think with the Maverick paint issues the more the better. My Subaru Crosstrek Sport has cladding and it does a great job of protecting the body from damage when I take it off road. Perhaps protective claddig would have been a good idea. Heck the Maverick needs protective film put on the wheel wells to protect the paint from when you mount mud guards.

Nope I said my Maverick at the time was problem free the post I was referencing was in response to Hyundai dealers ripping folks off for servicing and I referenced my experience with Toyota dealers. I do know that all my regular maintenance service is free for three years as part of Hyndai's regular maintenence service so there is no rip off there..

Once again I will repeat. All the issues I had with my Hyundai were directly experienced. You continually post problems with the Maverick you did not experience then tried to say you did.

No reason to continue conversing with you since you have nothing to offer except vitriol. Ignore list updated.

Do you have a comprehension issue? Is it that you feel like you are losing to state such mis-information regarding my posts? It has to be one or the other. By the way tell all the owners on this site that experienced what I posted that it didn't happen.

Doesn't matter if he doesn't see it. It does matter that when someone calls me out as a liar that the other posters on this thread see who the real liar was or the one that had a comprehension issue. I never said I had issues with my Maverick only that there are issues with the Maverick garnered from tons of posts on this site. Anyone who takes the time to look at those issues will verify that what I posted as problems have been verified by owners

Sure many built a bad car of two. But its the engines and transmissions that are bad on Kia hyundai. I was talking to a group of people in my flying club. Cars came up. I never heard of so many engines blowing up on two makes. Kia Hyundai. Many were replaced under warranty but still. I personally have two friends that had there Kia engines blow less than a month old. Funny part is the one asked me what I thought of Kia I said I here the engines suck. Then he buys it anyway and engine blows. New engine installed this was two years ago. Runs fine now. Many videos by used car dealer owners swearing that hyundai and kia engines suck. The dual clutch tranny another issue. You cant make a claim of a good car after a year or two. No one knows how well the maverick will do YET or a SC. Going by past Kia/hyundai I say no. BUT every manufacturer makes a bad engine once in a while,. The two friends they were NOT the same engine. Same for group I was talking too. Many different engines.

All the GDI engines are the bad ones. They overheat the top of the cylinders and end up with caking up oil deposits on the rings, the cylinder walls end up dry and score. Then oil burning. It is a dirty engine.

I saw a co-worker's Kia keys laying on her desk one day when I was dealing with mine and asked her about it. She said she had made a deal with her oil change place where she'd drive it in halfway between oil changes and they'd fill it up again. Sad.

Mine ended up getting a 150,000 mile extended warranty as part of the class action lawsuit but it was only on the rod bearings. Mine was warrantied with 4 scored cylinder walls so I guess the rod bearings are another issue.

ETA: When I picked up mine after the engine change the service mgr asked me about setting something up and I told him it wouldn't make it to the next oil change before I got rid of it. I said I had read about the GDI engines and he kinda grinned with his head down and said "Yep, they've had a LOT of problems with that engine"

SC are below MSRP here in the Midwest .
Partner at work has one. I don't like the shifting. There's nothing wrong with it but the ecvt spoiled me.
