There's a highway between me and my office. Ever since I got pulled over on it for doing 81 in a 55 I 've just set my cruise control to 64. This has been wholly uneventful in my Mustang and my former Escape using their adaptive cruise controls. The new Mav, on the other hand, when passing certain speed limit signs, will slow down abruptly and reset the cruise control to 56; not just a de-accelerate/re-accelerate like a vehicle pulled in front.. It's only a couple of them and it's not entirely consistent. The setting for monitoring signs is OFF.

Driving me nutz. Just happened again this morning with one sign. Thoughts?

That's a feature you can disable from the vehicle settings. It can 'read' the signs and will adjust speed automatically.

I disabled that on mine on day-one as it misreads a 55 as a 45 near my house, and it also abruptly decelerates causing a potential safety problem. I have it so it still displays what it thinks is the speed limit, but it no longer adjusts speed.

Thanks. The secret sauce was the "Tolerance" setting which was set to 1 which perfectly explains the resettiing to 56mph. That didn't exist on my Escape, but it's now jacked to the 20mph maximum.

Yeah I don’t let my Mav make those kind of decisions.
Only thing I allow it to do is keep me from unintentionally tailgating.
When I’m tired the steering assist is kinda nice.

I was in the center lane of a 3-wide yesterday, when this jack-wad passed me on the left, and decided he needed to take the exit ramp on the far right. For the second or 2 that he was in front of me, the ACC slammed on the brakes. I could do without that,,,,,,

Conversely, some years ago, someone came flying from another lane seemingly with the intent of taking off the front end of my Mustang. While I have pretty damn good reflexes especially for a big, dorky white boy, Ford's accident avoidance reacted even faster, before I'd even had enough time to process what was happening. I'll keep that, thank you.

Traveling a 55mph two way road…
How about the guy in front of you that doesn’t brake for a car in front of him waiting to turning left into his driveway but at the last minute passes on the shoulder, leaving you with a 55mph to 0mph stop in two car lengths.

or this…

I don't think my 24 has the automatic speed adjustment feature, but I would not use it for the main reason if I am driving on a 45 mph road and come across a school zone that is not active it will still see the 20 mph speed limit sign and do a drastic slow down that is what I would be most concerned about. However I love the ACC and lane centering together very nice feature.

I believe you have to add traffic sign recognition/ active speed warning with forscan on a 2024 as well.

Yes, that would not be ideal, though I can't say I've ever used cruise control in a school zone.

Yeah I enabled TSR with forscan and love it, but no way doing the active speed thing. I was talking about driving on a normal road with speed limit at 45 and I set cruise at 50, it is like 9pm and I come across a school zone that is not active, the school zone speed limit sign is still there and the TRS will recognize it as a 20 mph zone and then would drop your speed rapidly down to match the reduced speed limit which really is not that speed for that time of day. That is my main concern with the active speed system. Just my 2 cents and thanks for the conversing love talking with other Like minded Maverick owners.
