Go to a large dealer with a good reputation! I used Chapman Ford out if PA... No money down, exactly how i configuref it... 9 month wait.. under invoice price.... and I never even finished returning the paperwork with my signature. Forgot about it until I saw Ford emails with the truck status.
Did you order early in 2021 or in Sept 2023? I had one from Chapman Horsham that I ordered in October 2021 and it didn't arrive until July, almost 21 months later. By then I already had another one and moved on.

Think about it - if a dealer contacts the customer (say, over the phone) and he says "no thanks," is he realistically going to go in with an ID and sign a form to make it official? And should the vehicle be held hostage until he does?

If won't work.
At the end of the day there's many ways to "skin This cat". I feel if you order the vehicle it should be treated like any other transaction in life.

AKA the customer can't just walk away because they changed their mind ( this would also help w/ people ordering from multiple dealers) and dealers can't just steal the truck or change the price on delivery.

Imagine if Amazon operated this way, like I said it baffles me 🤔

Ordered late Sept 2022 just before the order banks had opened and it arrived for pickup in mid July...10 months not 9, a 2023 Lariat 4k, AWD 2.0L blacked out.

Well with Amazon you aren't waiting 8-10 months for your order. If you did, Amazon never would've become what it is. The rare times you do wait are if you pre-order something like a game console. Even then, you generally knew when the wait would end on release date. Here there's no rhyme or reason as to who gets what first.

Wait time is not the issue being discussed. The issue I'm referring to is dealers charging prices/stealing.

Amazon also charges you up front before shipping your item. I doubt many people would pay cash up front for a dealer to give them a maverick months later. It's simply a different business model.

Since you can't shop directly from Ford all you can do is spend your money at and reward good dealerships.

You also mentioned that customers can't just walk away from their orders and change their mind like any other transaction and bring up Amazon. The long wait time is exactly why ppl can walk away because they can't be expected to purchase something when there is no guaranteed delivery.

At the same time dealers, much like Amazon should have to honor the price agreed at purchase "order" even if it takes longer than expected.

My house took over a year but the builder couldn't just change the price. You're correct it is a different business model and it's broken and should be fixed.

That actually only true for things not sold by amazon. If its sold by Amazon specifically they don't charge until it has shipped haha

I agree. It's ridiculous that we have to buy vehicles like this.

I've been trying for months to find a truck on a lot without a markup. I've been up front with every dealer in my area that it's a hard line for me.

Only 1 dealer has been willing to do so and I have no recourse if they renege once the truck arrives.

I've got a 24 order in at a different dealer and hope one will honor our agreement. It doesn't have to be this way and it shouldn't. But unfortunately profit and lobbying power favors greedy dealers.
