We provided a drivers license too. Understood it is required by ALL dealerships when ordering/purchasing a vehicle. Also heard that with the current situation of low inventories and exceedingly high requests for the Maverick, "rumors" about people trying to get higher on the reservation and/or order lists are hitting several dealerships with "requests for reservations." This could screw over orders for other customers. True or not, many people today seem to have no consideration or respect for others.
Me again If you got email confirmation from Ford for your truck you need to call Ford's customer service # 1-800-334-4375 to make sure your order is in the system there will be a dealer code and customer code top right corner of your Dora. They should be able to confirm your order

I'll say it again:

Would definitely be possible to have an "order" incoming that is attached to you, and even receive emails from Ford about it, without having to give a copy of your DL.

If your truck started life as an already allocated Maverick that was changed to your specs. In that case, Ford wouldn't require the DL.

Ford only requires a copy of the DL on special orders, to stop dealers from creating fake special orders.

Did not know that. Kind of makes sense though.

Well it seems your mileage may very, My dealer didn't require my DL to order my truck and I'm scheduled for production 2/7/22

Short question is subject line..
More detail:
I am extremely po'd as I write this.
I went to my nearest Ford Dealer in June and placed an order for a Velocity Blue Hybrid Lariat.
I received the confirmation email from Ford a week or so later and a follow up in Oct.
I've been following these forums for months to stay in the know of what's going on with production.
I decided to call the dealership this week to see if they had any news, I honestly wasn't expecting much since these forums seem to be more on top of things than most.
The dealer told me the order wasn't placed because they didn't get a copy of my drivers license and that Ford required it.
Grant it, they called after I placed the order and ask for a copy, but I didn't give it much attention figuring they just wanted my personal info.
Had they told me we won't place your order w/o it, I'd have got it to them.
So did you have to supply a copy of you DL for your order to be placed?
YES!

Dealers usually just want basic ID so they know who’s placing the order, but they don’t check it again until you’re actually buying the truck. The bigger issue is often how each dealer handles communication, and some are way better than others. I once used an international driver license for a rental abroad, and it reminded me how differently places treat paperwork, so it might be worth asking your dealer what they actually require on their end.
