I ordered 6 July and got the confirmation email almost immediately. A few days later, my dealer called me and said I needed to bring a copy of my DL and sign the order sheet for them to complete the order (at least my dealer told me why). Some time *AFTER* Ford started taking orders (and sending confirmation emails), they changed the rules and orders had to be confirmed in ROVP (Retail Order Verification Program) with this documentation. I suspect once they realized how hot this truck was going to be, they had to implement something to prevent shady dealers from entering Stock orders as Retail. As I recall, shortly after that folks were saying it took days, even weeks, to get their confirmation emails, since they weren't being sent out until the order was complete in ROVP.

Yeah they asked for mine. You implied they reached out saying they needed it. So unfortunately this is an error on your part for not inquiring what they needed it for an ignoring it. Really sucks im sorry but I don't think this falls on the dealership

Short question is subject line..
More detail:
I am extremely po'd as I write this.
I went to my nearest Ford Dealer in June and placed an order for a Velocity Blue Hybrid Lariat.
I received the confirmation email from Ford a week or so later and a follow up in Oct.
I've been following these forums for months to stay in the know of what's going on with production.
I decided to call the dealership this week to see if they had any news, I honestly wasn't expecting much since these forums seem to be more on top of things than most.
The dealer told me the order wasn't placed because they didn't get a copy of my drivers license and that Ford required it.
Grant it, they called after I placed the order and ask for a copy, but I didn't give it much attention figuring they just wanted my personal info.
Had they told me we won't place your order w/o it, I'd have got it to them.
So did you have to supply a copy of you DL for your order to be placed?
My dealer requested by drivers license when I placed my order.

Yep, This has always been a requirement for your order to be accepted.

Keep us posted on your delivery, and how it all works out. See if your dealer will explain how they were able to do this with no DL confirmation. Very curious about this.... same for others who have confirmed orders with no DL given.
Truck was delivered yesterday. I went to the dealership today and bought it. Tomorrow I take ownership (I couldn't get anyone to drive me to the dealership today and I'm not trading in my current ride [Because I bummed it from my mother]).

The Maverick I bought (Hybrid XL) was the first one sold by this dealership, and perhaps by anyone in this area. There's only one other one (2.0L Lariat), which came off the same truck and was order by the finance guy's father-in-law.

They didn't tell me why they didn't need a license. We talked about the F-150 Lightning though, and the guy responsible for online orders said they had 6 pre-orders out of their 12 'optioned' trucks already done. The implication being that the dealership itself had 12 trucks it could order and expect delivery on before getting into the grand melee that is allocation. I wonder if maybe dealerships don't have to provide proof for trucks until they get a certain amount orders. Pure speculation.

The Mavericks all-in cost was $24,231.27, MSRP of $22,300. Thats only $1931.27 over MSRB, an includes taxes ($1338.00). Seems pretty fair to me, especially since I got $750.00 of for being a student (So only $23,481.27 actual all-in price). So not only did I not need to provide ID, I feel like I got treated pretty darn good.

I'd highly recommend this dealership to anyone in my area looking into Fords. Only downside is it's a small dealership (It's actually a fairly large complex, but it looks like it's primarily a service station for Ford fleets with a side business as a dealership) so its allocations are probably rough.

I've ordered 3 cars in 4 weeks and all required a copy of the DL.

When I picked up my Rogue, they wanted a copy of insurance even though it was a cash deal. What business of theirs is it?
I get that Nissan motor finance would be interested but I showed up with a bank check.
It could have to do with state law. Maybe they can't sell a car to someone without insurance (or a license either).
I didn't even question it.
If not because of state law (High possibility), then because they don't want to get tangled up in a lawsuit if you bought a vehicle without insurance and immediately t-boned someone driving off the lot.

My dealer required it in order to place order. Did it and I have my XLT eb in garage after a 5 monthe wait. Tracking worked fine from Ford.

I have purchased several cars in 3 different states and was always required Drivers license to purchase one. Granted that was to purchase so I thought nothing of it and gladly e-mailed him a copy with the sighed order.

We provided a drivers license too. Understood it is required by ALL dealerships when ordering/purchasing a vehicle. Also heard that with the current situation of low inventories and exceedingly high requests for the Maverick, "rumors" about people trying to get higher on the reservation and/or order lists are hitting several dealerships with "requests for reservations." This could screw over orders for other customers. True or not, many people today seem to have no consideration or respect for others.

Yes. My husband ordered his June 21st and had to provide his driver's license. I ordered one on July 6th and provided mine. Salesperson said it was so that he could confirm that it was a special order for a customer, not for the dealership. Then he provided me with a copy of the signed order and the ROVP.

I beg to differ, it's not your responsibility to have to ask what is needed to complete your order to Ford. It's the dealers job to make sure they have all the required info

If you read the entire post- they reached out to him regarding license and he ignored it. Not sure how that falls on the dealership? They won't go chasing people for information. It's really unfortunate but I don't see how it's directly dealerships fault.
