Well said,
Think about it, she was in a Prius with the edges, corners all much closer to her.
The Maverick, we sit deeper in it, lower with the corners farther away.
It took me some time to get used to getting close to things without bumping.
Pulling up to things when it was new was worse than my previous Bronco Sport, It was taller.
I learned to get within inches after getting out countless times, looking then moving closer,
then getting out and looking again. Many times.

After some effort I can pull up to a pole or car and comfortably stop within three or four Inches.
Try parking close at the front after having two brain surgeries (both benign, than goodness)... let's just say I have some depth perception problems. 😕 I, like you, will quite often have to pull up... again, and sometimes again. in order to get close to the right parking position. It's getting better... but it's still a problem at times. 🙁

Poor parking skills is one of the reasons I purchased a Lariat! The 360 camera is super helpful with this:crackup:

It diesnt take 110 pounds to move a clutch.
not "doesn't", but "shouldn't".

But once it does, the driver's weight becomes an upper limit to how much pressure can be applied without bracing against something.

It sounds like you are talking about messed up brakes in this reply.
The brakes were an example for illustration--I couldn't apply more than my own 200+ pounds in pressure on the pedal before lifting out of the seat. I think I got a little more than that by pressing back against the seat, but I was kind of preoccupied by getting the thing under control as it careened down a steep ramp . . .

Sorry for your loss Barbara.

It's not you, the Maverick seems like a particularly odd vehicle to park, for its size. Not sure what it is about it, just a combination of things. There have been other posts on this topic.

Lots harder than a Prius for sure. Don't sweat the dents, enjoy the drive.

Cheers.
The Maverick's front end gives me the impression it's bigger than it actually is. I keep having to move the front end closer because the tail end is hanging out into the lot.

Yep! This is the one modification I would make to my 2022 . . . damn the cost.

drive a bmodels or a dm on a jobsite much harder then on the road, most drivers never use the clutch on a "clash ranger" after getting under way( used to listen to the clunking and clashing of e experienced drivers-the automatic has made many drivers lives easier( believe me you I have talked to a number of them) g'day.

My husband passed away September, 2024. In July we had taken possession of a new 2024 poppy red Maverick hybrid. Until then, I had been driving a series of Priuses and the one I had then was showing wear. He was driving his old Tacoma, and had fallen in love with the Maverick. Now it is my only vehicle and I am an old urbanized woman (living in a rural area) and had very little truck driving experience. Since I am working with a home health agency part-time, truck is great for the back roads I use a good deal, but it isn't so flexible for parking and maneuvering. My poor pretty truck has an inaugural set of ugly dents caused by my parking deficiency. Also, it was easy to stay straight on the road with the Prius, much harder with the truck. (Definitely doesn't like me steering with my knees).

All that being said, if I try to be a better driver (and not so easily distracted) and hone my parking skills, it will all be ok. My question is (yes, I do have one!)--any women Maverick drivers out there, with or without issues?
A woman driver without issues????😱😂

I also have had two brain surgeries BUT have NO depth vision problems. The squareness of the maverick and the flatness of the hood makes it difficult to know where the front of the truck actually is. When parking in my garage I hung a "stress" squeeze ball from the ceiling and stop when ball touches or is close to windshield. Also have a wall plug that I aim the drivers side hood ridge towards to have my passenger side mirror clear obstacles.

The square front fenders of the '72 Chevy were great for this. The '72 Eldorado is pretty good, but not quite to that level. (Wasn't the Buick even squarer that year? I recall the back end was.]

And hood ornaments helped, too, especially on vehicles such as the mid 90s Eldorado that sloped down (my '97 Eldorado Touring Coupe was retrofitted with one before delivery to the original owner!].
