Hello, long time lurker.

I have had my 22 Maverick for about a year and a half now, it’s around 32000 miles.

I’ve been dealing with shaking in the truck while I accelerate from 40ish to 50ish mph. It doesn’t shake before or after that.

I’ve been dealing with a local small town ford dealership this summer to address the issue, and I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

They probably have had my truck for a total of 15 days during the past couple months (a week here, a a week there and a couple days randomly) trying to diagnosis the issue.

At first, they blamed the factory tires, and had me replace them. After that didn’t solve the issue, they have looked and relooked at the transmission. Now they want to take my car for another week and disassemble the transmission and replace a few parts.

I honestly don’t know much about cars, so I’m kinda at a loss on if this is normal?

Should I keep working with them? Or should I go to another dealership?

From reading this forum, it seems that this shaking is not an uncommon issue.

My vote would be to try someone else, if it's feasible - fresh eyes, fresh ideas. I hate the "throw parts at it until we find the broken one" way of fixing things, especially with what sounds like a driveline issue.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

Ah yes the vibrating Maverick.
Mine started at ~ just under 20K. Same speed range. Based on this forum I figured out it was likely the dreaded failing CV axles.
Called my Ford dealer I bought the Mav from and made the appointment. Talked with the service intake guy about it. No problem, we know about the issue, etc.
They replaced the CV axles under warranty and now no more vibration. This was last week so I've put some miles on it.
They also did all the recalls. No ill effects from those so far.
I have to say for all the bad info on Ford dealers, McCarthy Ford here in Chicago has been great. Great when I ordered the Mav, great when it arrived, great for service. No hassle, no BS. Maybe they just do enough volume where they don't have to worry about BS.
Take your Mav in and get the CV axles replaced. You'll be happy.

Thanks for your reply… I have 26,600 on my 2022 Hybrid Maverick and the shake/ shutter just started about two weeks ago when I accelerate on to the freeway.. I called yesterday to my local dealship and I have an appointment this coming Tuesday. Will they listen to me to replace the CV AXLES without going through the check and balance questions of tire alignment etc problems? Also how long does it take for replacement and will I need a rental car… if so do you know if rental cars are covered under the warranty?

Maverick shake and wobble
New, Sorry for the long post!!
Hi everyone, I have a 2022 Ford Maverick AWD XLT FX4. Bought new, all highway miles never used 4-wheel drive. All recalls have been done and serviced at local ford dealer ship. At 28,000 miles, I had a Rough Country 2" strut lift installed, new tires, aligned, and balanced $2500.00 all at a ford dealer ship locally. No problems until 45,000 miles I noticed a shake and a wobble on front passenger side around 50 mph seems to calm down a bit if you get off the gas but never goes away, mostly when accelerating it shake and wobbles. Was taken to ford rebalanced tires again and it's still doing the same thing. Ford dealer locally is saying it's the lift. Even though they installed the lift they will not warranty anything for the shake and wobble. I have taken back to dealer where I purchased it, and they change the front passenger side CV joint under warranty, and it still shakes and wobbles. WTF!! Ford needs to come up with a solution. Any suggestions Thanks!!

Hey sorry about the lack of responsibility of the dealership service. It sounds like they should have replaced both sides of the CV axle… reading other sites say the mounts should be replaced too?.. I’m bringing in my Maverick on Tuesday to the dealership to fix my acceleration shake problem and also waiting to hear from Ford Company. My truck is a XL 2022 HYBRID Maverick… So I really don’t know how it is all going to turn out just hoping for the fix since I love my truck. Good luck to your fix too.

I took my 2022 XLT hybrid with 26,000 miles on it to the dealer yesterday because of the vibration felt on acceleration through the pedal. I picked it up today with both axle assemblies replaced. It is definitely the cv joints and clearly a manufacturing defect that ford is ignoring. Didn’t cost me anything as it is covered to 3 years or 36,000 miles but next time it happens will be a $1200 plus problem. Maybe the aftermarket will have a solution by then

Good luck trying to prove that the 2" lift didn't cause the problem. The dealer installed the lift because you asked for it. A good dealer would have told you that a lift stresses the CV axles and they will likely fail. Modding your Mav is the escape valve Ford needs to deny a warranty claim.

Whether your dealer will want to discuss it, try to blame it on you or something else, who knows. The problem is well known at this point so I would be surprised if they tried to play games.
My replacement took a couple days. Parts were readily available. No idea whether the warranty covers are rental car. I have another car so it didn't matter.

Type the word shudder into the forum Search box. You'll see tons of threads/posts on this issue.

It usually happens when accelerating at around roughly 40-ish mph. The defect appears on the truck at around roughly 20k-ish miles on the ODO. Leaky CV boots are giveaway that it is, or will be, a problem on your Maverick.

CV axles are covered by the powertrain warranty, which is 5 years/60k.

I hope that is true. My service advisor referenced the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. I’d rather not have to find out but ….

It is. Ask them to show you the warranty guide if they don't know or are playing games. I don't know how much parts and labor are for CV axles, but I would be surprised if it's anything less than $1000. Good chunk of change.
