I recently picked up my XL hybrid base maverick. Only options were the hybrid drive train, copilot and rubber floor mats.

I'm planning on using this vehicle as a work truck. It will be used as a daily commuter and also for my side business.

On the side I'll be doing medical courier service and up to 1,000 lb pallet capable hot shot deliveries within a 500 mile radius of Chicago.

The only upfitting I'll be doing is adding a bed mat and hard folding tonneau bed cover. Nothing else keeping it stock.

Does anyone out there have any experience pushing the limits of these trucks? Any issues? Any suggestions on upfits for the power train. Is this thing going to be ford tough and capable of rigorous use?

So far I really like this unit. The suspension seems solid and the mpg is amazing. I'm digging it.

Thanks

Rigorous use? Not sure about that - but our local utility locators are running them. I’m seeing more and more using them as delivery or service vehicles.

you might want to rethink the hard cover depending on the pallet sizes

A weak point with the Hybrids, seems to be the CV axles. Lotsa failures (at least posts on here about it) around 20-k ish miles. Check the CV boots frequently for damage or leaks.

Assuming you didn't get a defective one, eCVT transmissions (similar to those in the Toyota Prius) are proven tech, and should have a long service life. The Hybrid system has an 80k warranty, if you're concerned about it. Sloppy software coding seems to be the worst problem with these trucks. Recalls are slowly addressing those issues.

Enjoy the MPGs, longer oil/filter & air filter change intervals and 100-200k brake pad lifetimes.

There is a large mobile home manufacturer in east Tennessee that bought a giant fleet of Maverick hybrids. Hopefully the dealer that will service them has hired more "hybrid guys", which is what the service manager called their one and only qualified technician to service hybrid powerplants.
