There are 3 zones on my way to work and 2 zone on my way home every day. 15mpg Cruise would make it much easier to deal with.

My two cents: Assuming you ARE paying hyper-vigilant attention then using the cruise control in a school zone seems to me like a valid request. We have some very long school zones in my area as well. And the fine for speeding thru a school zone is well over $300! (Ask my leadfoot niece, she knows!)
I'll also agree though that if you can't manually maintain a steady speed for half a mile, then perhaps you shouldn't be driving. Of course, in my area, you'd be lucky to maintain 5mph thru the zone traffic, much less 15. 🤣

Wish I could help you out here; you're thinking about it a right AND safe fashion and all these nutter drivers, well it sucks we have to be on the road with them every day

Setting Drive Mode to Slippery may allow that gas pedal to be easier to operate at such a low speed - will certainly make it easier for a little press not to add up quickly.
