This head unit sucks. It lags a lot and forgets what source it was using during the drive prior. I use a USB for music and only connect my phone when needing directions. The USB remains connected, so the constant re-indexing and overall lack of remembering anything that the head unit is doing has become irritating. I am wondering if we will be able to upgrade to the 8" at some point? Or if giving up some of the integration will be worth going aftermarket. I have never owned a truck and have always had audio systems in my cars. To replace everything seems fairly straightforward, the rear pillars seem like a hassle, but the head unit is mounted in a flat and flush manner that any aftermarket should slide into. I am just wanting to get a feel for everyone's input. I know it is a truck and I have a XL, but the B&O was not worth me upgrading thousands of dollars. I can do it all myself once the parts become available, but yeah just wondering what y'all think about upgrading to the 8" Ford unit or going aftermarket?

I essentially replaced mine with an iPad mini. I have it bluetooth connected to the factory stereo and it starts playing 5-7 seconds after I start the truck. Yes I lost my backup camera (for now) but that's not hard to deal with. I am going to try to integrate that into the iPad at some point.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about the backup camera. I do enjoy the little "ambient light" and wouldn't mind adding to it and hardwiring it elsewhere. I know it's a bare bones micro truck, but I think they tried to pack too much into the radio and it is lagging because of that.

Thank you for this information have not read about it. I just want it to be reliable or easy for me to upgrade and it seems Ford has failed on delivering either of those options
