I found a fairly cheap lariat cluster and was wondering would a dealership be able to set my mileage to mine? i just bought it and dont even have 700 miles on it yet. I didnt order this one i just got lucky and one was in stock at my local ford. It was a 2023 XLT with 4k tow and lux and co-pilot 360. but not the FX4 like i wanted. Would a lariat cluster work/ could they do it? thanks!

You can only increase the mileage on a cluster so the one you bought would have to have lower mileage than your vehicle. You'll probably have to also make some changes to your as built data. I added the 6.5" cluster to my XL. Not really sure a dealer would be willing to do this to be honest since it's not a straight forward swap.

Note: I did it to gain hill descent control on my XL. Keep in mind that not all 6.5 inch clusters are equal as I found out the hard way. The Lariat 6.5 inch cluster I purchased did not come from an fx4 equipped Maverick so I could not get hill descent control to work. Once I found one from an fx4 equipped Maverick hdc worked like a charm.

Was there a different part number on the non FX4 cluster v.s. the FX4 cluster?

Also, did you need to perform any forscan programming to get the 6.5" console working?

Yes there was and yes some forscan tinkering was necessary. I don't have the part numbers just go to one of the ford parts site and make sure you spec a ford with the FX4 package if you use a vin

If you didn't add hill descent would you have needed to go into forscan? I know you need to in order to adjust mileage but was wondering if there was any other need if not worried about hill descent.

If you didn’t have to adjust the mileage there would be no reason to go into forscan. It plugged right in for me and worked right away
