Alright, I'VE HAD IT with the accidental door locking due to the design/layout of the controls.

When gripping the door lever and opening the door, the side of your hand can accidentally push in the mechanical lock lever and a fingertip can accidentally press the elec lock switch. Aargh!

This ended up being a good excuse to finally get familiar with 3D printing and come up with something useful. Bought the cheapest and most neglected 3D printer I could find on FB Marketplace and spent some time watching YouTube tutorials on the design software.

Measure, draw, print, fit, and repeat. Lots of trial & error involved but I ended up with a simple 2-piece solution that works well in preventing accidental pressing of the lock lever and button.

👍 Good job.
Your picture illustrates perfectly how accidental self locking happens.

At least you recognized that you were locking it inadvertently and created something nice looking to keep it from happening. 👏
