Unusual Screen Message

In 26,000 miles this is the only time I have received this message. Not once in all that time have my brakes been applied automatically. I'm almost certain the XLT 360 did not come with that capability at that time and I was a pretty good student of what I had and didn't have o the truck. I thought you had to have the Lariat trim for that back then.

If anything, I feel like it's related to these recent software updates and is an anomaly

The only difference in functionality in regards to the Lariat is it gains Evasive Steering Assist which increases the steering rate when the Pre-Collision Assist system has activated.

Pre-Collision assist has been included standard feature on all model years, all trims, irrespective of the CP360 option.

I get phantom alerts every blue moon. The braking never actuates. It is always in clear sailing - no other vehicle in sight. Maybe two or three times a year.

Ok, I'm an idiot. I finally looked at the configuration screen and there it is. I have never paid attention to it before.

Driving home last night I had a message flash up on my screen for the first time saying "Pre Collision Assist" (or something to that effect) ln bright red. it flashed several times and went away. I have a 2022 XLT with Co-Pilot 360 but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have that capability. Why would I get the message all of a sudden

I had it happen once. I was on a 4 lane road and a 18 wheeler passed me up. He was close so I looked to make sure he wasn't drifting into my lane. I looked back to the front and a truck towing a trailer braked suddenly. I pushed the brake about the same time the warning light and chime went off. Avoided a collision. I wondered if it worked or not. Now I know. How do you check it on purpose. Not something I was brave or stupid enough to try. Glad to know it does work.
