Hello all,
I ordered a 23 XLT EcoBoost with FX4 and 4K tow back in September to BC, Canada. Finally, after a month of sitting in the rail yard, it appeared at the dealer. Hooray! The day before I was going to go pick it up, the dealer said sorry - it has a recall notice and delivery hold on the 4K tow brake light wiring. So now it sits…until parts arrive…which could be late Q2 according to the notice!
For anyone that has experienced a stop delivery on their vehicles due to recall (maybe other than the airbag gongshow) I’m wondering:
1. How long did it take to resolve and get repaired?
2. Does it being a stop delivery take repair priority over vehicles that are already out there? Surely they want their $$?
3. Is it possible for Ford to be flexible on a recall, say, if I ask for the hitch to be temporarily uninstalled or disabled while it waits for parts? Or is it a totally inflexible legal issue that dealers would get screwed on?
Any insights would be super appreciated - I have no vehicle right now (sold my car last Friday when the truck showed up), and I have a GFC camper waiting to be installed in Montana April 22 (a long haul from Northern BC…needs some planning!). As a long time Subaru customer and first time Ford customer, can’t say I’m at all impressed with this customer experience. If it waits until June I might find something else!
