Hello all,
I ordered a 23 XLT EcoBoost with FX4 and 4K tow back in September to BC, Canada. Finally, after a month of sitting in the rail yard, it appeared at the dealer. Hooray! The day before I was going to go pick it up, the dealer said sorry - it has a recall notice and delivery hold on the 4K tow brake light wiring. So now it sits…until parts arrive…which could be late Q2 according to the notice!

For anyone that has experienced a stop delivery on their vehicles due to recall (maybe other than the airbag gongshow) I’m wondering:
1. How long did it take to resolve and get repaired?
2. Does it being a stop delivery take repair priority over vehicles that are already out there? Surely they want their $$?
3. Is it possible for Ford to be flexible on a recall, say, if I ask for the hitch to be temporarily uninstalled or disabled while it waits for parts? Or is it a totally inflexible legal issue that dealers would get screwed on?

Any insights would be super appreciated - I have no vehicle right now (sold my car last Friday when the truck showed up), and I have a GFC camper waiting to be installed in Montana April 22 (a long haul from Northern BC…needs some planning!). As a long time Subaru customer and first time Ford customer, can’t say I’m at all impressed with this customer experience. If it waits until June I might find something else!

In the US federal law prohibits the sale of a vehicle with an open safety recall. I don't know if removing the hitch and wiring would free it up for delivery but I would guess dealers would not do it.
For #2 do you mean once parts are available yours would be scheduled for normal service on others? I'd say yes because the dealer wants to get paid.

Gotcha, ya same here in Canada. Just seems like a lot of cash held up and frustration for dealers that could be eliminated by just putting a dealer owned lock on there or removing part of it.

But yeah exactly that - do parts get auto shipped to dealers holding affected VINs before letters for appointments go out, or is it a first come first served free for all?

If your truck is on hold there should be a repair ticket generated, ask for a copy.

Ah they said no repair orders yet because this is just an advance notice before the dealer bulletin…no parts or repairs allowed or available yet. Mostly just wondering how long other recalls took to get resolved - am I looking at two weeks or two months or is it anyone’s guess? I thought buying a new vehicle would be easier and more…enjoyable? than this!
