Just purchased a 2025 Ruby Red Maverick XLT EcoBoost 8 days ago (Canadian). My first truck in my 50+ years of driving.
Purchased a used OE Leer bed cap the next day. Cap installed by seller without electrical for third brake light in bed cap.

I see two capped electrical cavities that are 2"x3" with wires and connectors on wall of bed near the tailgate.

I downloaded the 568 page owners manual (owners manual that came with truck was a paltry 111 pages)
and I can't find any mention of these ports/connectors.

Can anyone tell me what the wired connectors are in these cavities? I hoping I can connect the third light on the bed cap
to one of these connections.

They're mean to illuminate the bed, can't use them as a break light, but if you got the tow package, that's the route you wanna go to wire a third brake light

Here is a picture of the pigtail, that

This is what you're looking for👇

This ☝ will plug into these bed connectors.👇 The connectors are plugged into a dummy connection on the cover plate, in order to keep them clean.

I did get that wire harness (glove box) but was unaware it was for the 12V accessory connections.
Thanks for the heads up. I guess the connector has to be mounted through the clip-in plate.

You can run the wire up or down from the cover plate. I ran mine to the storage box where I installed a battery with charger, bed lights and a 12 volt plug and usb plug. Lights turn on with 433mhz remote. Now I have power whenever I want it, not just when the truck is running.

Other ideas on what you can do with those connections:

Thanks for the info... the pdf shows a wire harness kit "216231 WIRE HARNESS KIT".
Do you know if this kit can be ordered separately or only available with the truck cap?
After many weeks of back and forth with a local trailer dealer, I have given up.
I ordered a wiring kit to wire the tail lights to a Leer truck cap brake light.
The first kit I received had three pin clips to plug into the brake lights.
My tail light on my 2025 Maverick has 6 pins.
The trailer dealer ordered another kit as Leer in the U.S. told him there were 3 to 6 pin adapters.
Received a second kit and it was exactly the same kit, no 6 pin connectors.
The dealer then found out that Leer has a second company the makes the wiring kits.
The dealer called the other company who told him that there are no 6 pin connector clips.
I received a refund on the kit.

Did Ford change the connectors on the 2025 Maverick?
How many other changes were incorporated in the 2025 models?

Hey there,

I just solved this issue on a 2025 Hybrid. Had the LEER low profile topper put on the maverick, came with a 3 pin wire harness to connect to the taillights. What is strange is that mine came with a different wiring harness called 223801 - and once I found the instructions for it, it showed how you bypass the need for a 6 pin connector. And if you see the URL below it is dated 10.21.24 for the 223801, so it's gotta be the new harness.

https://www.snugtop.com/images/pdf/ford/LG_Maverick_PREM_LOW_PROF_Install_Gd_10_21_24.pdf

I just finished this install and you've got to de-pin a few connections from the taillight connection itself and swap with the T-harness creating a loop. then you just re-plug the 6-pin tailgate harness back into the factory connection.

These instructions are different than those for wiring harness 216231, which shows direct connections with 6 pin connectors, but obviously these do not actually exist? Or this was for a pre-2025 or something?
