Looking to see if there's a way to turn off ALL the entry lights on the exterior. I know I can keep the interior lights off but all of the outside ones need to be off also as one of my hobbies is astronomy and I need to keep my night vision.
Thanks

Turn headlight switch to off. I swear modern car owners are getting dumber and dumber.

Between the lights is a flat rocker 3 way switch. Pressing the passenger side in turns off lights, pressing other way leaves the lights on til timer or battery protection turn them off.

I was just reading about that. Going to have to give that a try. Dealer said no way to shut them down but dealers occasionally have been known to lie.

Go into the driver information panel settings (steering wheel) and vehicle settings. There is one for disabling the time out feature for the outside lights. If set to off the headlights and tail lights will not turn on when opening the doors.

Setting that to off had no affect on the lights turning on. Going to get a dongle and try Forscan. Maybe the dealer is right. might have to fabricate covers.

If you are truly trying to have NO exterior lights (or interior), you are going to have to enable POLICE DARK MODE through FORSCAN. It should not be too hard or expensive. You may also be able to enable a menu through FORSCAN in your cluster to turn this POLICE DARK MODE off and on when you want!

I'm going to try it but I've read conflicting info. Dark mode doesn't work on these trucks or that it only shuts down the interior lighting (which makes no sense to me as you can turn the dome light off with the switch). I'm ordering a dongle later today and will let everyone know what works or if it does work.

Ill look into it some more and can test the POLICE DARK MODE on my maverick and Ill see what lights it keeps on and off.

Idk if this will help you at all but I did find a way with FORSCAN to make the headlights default to "Last known" instead of always defaulting to auto. This way you can keep you headlights OFF when arriving and they would stay OFF when you reenter and start your MAV.

Was able to turn off running lights and that seemed to not turn on headlights ( drive in movie mode? ) But after an update the headlights act differently. XL 2022 m/yr

Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. I'll need to get a obd2 wire before I can do any more at my end but please let me know what you find.

Can you really screw up any thing with Forscan? I'd hate to end up un-drivable.

Can you? Yes you can. Just save the as built first so you can backtrack if needed
