My truck is so smart, it knows when it wants the parking brake applied. I do know there are some parameters that when met it applies the parking brake. You would also think that if it knows the parking brake is applied, it wouldn’t let you shift out of park so you don’t put undo pressure on the parking brake.

Parking brake - which is just the rear wheels, that is what you mean?

Or the incline braking on all 4 wheels for a couple seconds after coming off the brake?
Same for the auto-hold option, all 4.

Since the parking brake does have an auto-release feature if you forget, sure it'll let you come out of park.

ETA - thinking about the amount of body shift using the parking brake on a hill - I've never seen that with the transmission in Drive and the parking brake holding - gotta hit the gas to cause the release.

Did you observe something extreme compared to say a 30 degree incline?

It's an electric parking brake so you don't really need to worry when shifting out of Park into another gear because the parking brake will release automatically when you press on the accelerator pedal.

You don't need to worry about "undo pressure" on the parking brake and if you are you could always manually release the parking brake by pressing the button that is located on the center console near the shifter dial.

In talking about the little lever in between the seats. It does apply itself when the conditions are correct.

Yeah we know and it undoes itself when you press the button in the correct orientation or by putting your foot on the brake pedal then shifting into gear and then lightly press on the accelerator pedal which releases the parking brake.

I rarely use the parking brake, and I've never had it auto-engaged.

At least there is no undue pressure compared to being on an incline.

Talking about these?

whenever I park on an incline, I always set the parking brake. when I get back in, the first thing I do is rotate out of park, and then release the parking brake. In this manner, no undue stress is placed upon the transmission.
