Truck bed lighting

I was planning on putting lights in the truck bed. The set I bought had several small LEDS which would give 4 on each side. The instructions say to ground the one wire and connect the other to the power source. If I use the flex bed pigtail. Do I connect to the red wire and just block off the black wire since I'm grounding to the body of the truck? Sorry but I'm not the greatest with electric matters.

should work, but why not just use the ground wire?
