Honestly, look up any basic tutorials on automotive wiring and switching. +to+ and -to-. Only use mechanical fasteners and not solder for automotive wiring (I don't care what they showed in the flex box tutorial videos).
The most important part of DIY is the learning! I enjoy the learning and doing more than having the end product.
