I'm presently awaiting the delivery of a 2024 XLT hybrid cactus gray (arrives in 1-2 weeks), and like the look of the darker headlights found on the BAP, Lariat, and Tremor. My modified vehicle history stems back 25+ years, with the last 20 being primarily Subaru turbo models. With that said, Ford is a completely new brand for me and this Maverick is far more technologically advanced than my prior Subarus.
My questions:
- are the Lariat and/or Tremor headlights a direct plug in?
- do the headlights require VIN coding with some type of Ford software?

Info I've found to date:
  • Open and self-modify the housings = within my ability wheelhouse, but not of interest given potential for moisture.
  • Bulls Eye Customs - send your lights and they modify them = mildly considering, but I prefer OEM non-mod'd headlights.
  • Rear Lariat tail lights require a small jumper harness of sorts = made me wonder about the headlights
  • Lariat and Tremor use a non-replaceable LED light housing type
  • Brand new headlights are about $1200+ each = I would be looking at 2nd hand units.
For reference, here is a tremor headlight

As long as the physical plug is the same it should work. The only thing that might not work would be the upper led bar since I’m not sure if your truck would be wired for it but that’s an easy fix. No vin coding needed but I suggest checking out forscan if you are planing future mods to the truck.

You would need FORScan to probably do a Local Interface Network (LIN) Module Initialization as there's a computer module in the headlight that the BCM needs to learn to talk to. Also need to reconfigure other settings such as using the accent lighting for DRL instead of the turn signal low filament.

Following this. I like the darker looking headlights as well. If there is a simple swap I would do it.

I actually like the XLT BAP lights better on mine with the front turns switched to LED white.
The more light up front the better.

Shoot, I was hoping a 3rd party had a plug n play solution for the Lariat/Tremor lights.

As for FORScan - does this also apply if I were to swap XLT for XLT lights, assuming I could find lightly used Black Appearance Package XLT lights.

So, I did this. Got them to work after doing (I don’t even know anymore) to the bcm to change outputs. They worked, but only on full brightness. I tried to fix, but did a LIN and the upper portion went dark last week, still no luck… I’ll continue trying. @2016BoostedGreyGoose at one point made a PNP harness for lariat headlights but website now only shows for taillights. I’ve tried reaching out to buy harnesses but haven’t even received as much as a breath back. I’m hoping I hear back one of these days.

I personally couldn't give two shits about the DRL nonsense, I'm hoping the XLT Tremor lights (without the DRL) would be a direct swap with a regular XLT. The only difference should be the color since they're all LED... I wouldn't bother with Bullseye Customs, I tried emailing them since they said to contact them before ordering if I need a core shipped first to have no downtime and they literally just ignore you and never reply. I've tried reaching out on their social media, and same thing, ignored. So their customer service is non-existent. I've been checking ebay daily for a RH side of these lights. I already got the LH tremor light from ebay but the RH side ones are super rare apparently, everyone destroying them I guess, lol.
