Wondering if anyone has had the same issue
This started tonight on my way home from work with my tool trailer
Truck kept saying that the trailer was connecting and disconnecting.
Lights kept working and light check screen still showed my lights being active on my trailer but i kept loosing my trailer brakes..
I was trying to see if if was a loose connection or if certain movements caused it but it was totally random
I don't know if the cold weather is affecting the plug or system as it is currently -20C°
I also saw that alot of F150 guys had that issue...
I thought i just ask and seen if any of you had the same issue before i get my plug warranted

Sounds like typical 7 pin issues. In the cold your trailer wire gets very rigid and when you take sharp corners the wire pulls hard side to side on the connector. I squeeze the taps together a little with my fingers truck side that tightens the connection up. A can of electrical cleaner helps keep the connections clean.

Clean up the ground wire on the trailer. If there is corrosion present, or if it’s absent that might be your issue.

And usually its the lights that lose contact never the brake.

Update!

This week my trailer brakes don't work anymore, everytime i try the lever on the trailer brake module in the truck, the message "trailer disconnected" in my dash appears, i also tried a 7 pin trailer wiring tester and it does the same thing! I'm going to try and find someone with a known functional trailer and try my truck on it but i'm pretty sure theres something wrong with the truck's wiring or connector

Did you resolve this issue? I'm having the same issue with my 23 xlt with 4k tow pkg. The brakes worked normally the first 2500 miles of our trip. But now when I use the brake controller manually it says 'trailer disconnected'. Trailer lights remain on. When I apply the truck brakes I don't get any message. I hope that means the brakes are working. I'm making the 1500 mile trip home starting Monday.

Did you figure out a solution either? My 23 XL 4K is doing the same exact thing now too and my trailer is a beast for this little truck to stop without trailer brakes.

I did. Turns out we must have bottomed out the suspension on the trailer which pinched two of the wires to the left trailer brake. I spliced them together and has worked perfectly since.

I have had these issues with all of my Ford pickups over the last several years. My F-150, Ranger, and Maverick have all displayed this issue. The trucks all use their turn signal wiring to monitor the trailer connections. So if there is any intermittent shorts, or opens with either of the turn signal wiring circuits, you will get that message. the truck learns the wiring distance when its connected. If any change occurs on either of the turn signal circuits, you will get that message. Its actually, a fairly decent monitoring system. Usually, the problem is with the trailer wiring. However, it can also be a problem in the truck itself. I have done many different tests to establish the causes. The tail light circuit doesn't appear to cause the issue. I have found that the turn signal wiring is always the cause of the alarm. The bottom line is, if you get that alarm the length of one of the turn signal circuits have changed from what the truck learned at hookup. Of course if you notice it while braking, the brake lights are the turn signal circuits, so it will cause the same alarm. :fingerscrossed:
