Trailer hitch question and power seat question

Is the factory hitch installed on the assembly line when the vehicle is being assembled or, like some other options, is the hitch added off-site by an upfitter similar to options like the spray-on bedliner?

Does the Mav's 8 way power seat use electronic chips or is it controlled via a body control module, BCM, that is found on all series of Mav's such that the BCM is programmed to recognize the 8 way power seat?

As I understand it, the hitch receiver is welded onto the rear bumper support structure - so it's not added off-site.

As mentioned, it is welded on. Welded to the crash bar, which is behind the bumper cover. Has to be installed on assembly line. I have seen posts on here, where someone ordered a crash bar and swapped it. Of course, then you need to add wiring.

Not sure what you are getting at about the seat. The underneath of a power seat is completely different from a manual seat. Can one get a power bottom and swap them? I would assume so, but not sure about the wiring. There are wires under the seat for the belt reminder and air bag, but not sure if the power part of the seat has separate wires. I would think the power seat part would have its own power, to at least keep it on its own circuit. What I do know is that my Escape, which is 10-way and has seat memory, has two more wires than my Maverick. I had assumed the extra wires are for the seat memory. I see no reason why the seat switches would need go through the BCM, but don’t know that for sure.

Thank you both for the details on the factory hitch. I was hoping that was the case, it was an assembly line process as opposed to being sent off-site. As for my 8 way power seat question, I am curious as to whether even on a fleet order where it is a stand alone option, it would be subject to constraint due to chips. BCM-body control module- on other brands it goes through the BCM even if all the power seat requires is electrical connections. So I am wondering on the Mav if it is simply a programming issue. If I get a manual seat now, will I be able to go to a picknpull in the future an add the power seat as plug and play or will the BCM need to be programmed to recognize it?

I had been thinking about a picknpull, of an Escape, to get a power passenger seat. I haven’t gotten around to checking into that yet. I have a ‘20 Escape, but passenger seat isn’t power. But I figure if just needs power, the fuse block right there in the passenger footwell.

Really need to see a wiring diagram to know for sure; for either side.
