I got a email from the Ford dealership yesterday that trailer hitches are holding up production and if I want to cancel the trailer hitch on my XLT order.
Can't imagine a truck without a trailer hitch.
Anyone else hear this?

Did you order the luxury package? Cuz if you didn't, your chances of a 2023 are slim

no dealer said to order the minimum in upgrades, ordered XLT with only hitch, bed outlet & full size spare

You can have one installed after delivery. Not sure if it's exactly the same... comments?

My dealer called me about this and I decided to get one aftermarket, I will use the bed more than the hitch.

That is old news (a few months) and it may or may not still be true. Dealers aren't always on top of the situation. I wouldn't be surprised to hear from them that chips are still a problem too. It's better to hang out on MTC for the latest communcations from Ford regarding constraints.

SIBL was an issue most of last year too and dealers more or less shut down SIBL sales. Then it became undersubscribed.

If the hitch is the only thing holding up your Mav, Remove it. there are several after market options out there. Hell if you are in the South DFW area, I will install it for you LOL>

I added the 4K tow package. I don't think there is an option to drop the hitch without losing the whole deal.

It has been noted here starting the week after 2023 order were closed that the hybrids and stand alone trailer hitches were a constraint. Hitches included in packages were a priority over stand alone hitches. I myself have an issue believing the hitch is a contraint considering it is a fabricated assembly that multiple vendors could supply. It does not take a chip which I could understand being in limited supply same as the hybrid components. Aftermartket hitches and wiring are available but not real easy to install and cost much more than the 100.00 OEM option. You have to remove the whole rear bumper cover, to remove the original crash bar.

Hybrid with hitch or bust!
I am with you 100% and if it is a bust, next order will be with a different manufacture as long as it is a direct competitor to the hybrid Maverick. Price and fuel efficiency are the primary requirement for me. 2023 XLT hybrid HPR with trailer hitch and SIBL only.

Isn't there a problem wiring the four-pin connector? Have you found a solution?

Dropping the hitch does not make sense for 95% of buyers. The OEM is completely different than the aftermarket bolt-on. You save $100 by dropping it but then it will cost you $600-$800 to put on an aftermarket with wiring (and then there is the issue of potentially voiding warranty since you have to splice into the electrical for the lights).
