They traded it in for a edge st it is more cool but will it drop in value alot once they catch up in 3 years will the Honda be worth more
If you're obsessing so much about the vehicle value, then why'd you buy new at all? Sell it and buy a beater used car.

Only you can judge whether or not it's worth selling a car that you love for supposedly better resale value. If you're fine with a CRV and don't mind no longer having a cool Maverick, go for it.

Honda is not Toyota and that specific engine has a reputation for oil dilution, turbo failure, and other issues common with direction injection engines (ie. carbon build-up). Speaking to reliability of the powerplants, I'll take the Ford 2.5L atkinson hybrid over the 1.5T in the Honda every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I've owned 3 Hondas and this is my first ever Ford - I'm a WAY bigger fan of Honda, but their overall reliability has tanked the last decade

I'm not sayin this means OP should not take the deal (there are many factors to consider), but speaking specifically to reliability, I wouldn't just assume that Honda will outlast the Ford.

I had a 2012 crv same battery problem. The BMS (I Was told did not start charging until the open circuit voltage was, I forget exactly what but let's say 11.7 so the battery would have to drop to about 12.0-12.1 v soc for the alternator to kick in at 14.4+ but that would be open circuit reading.). Any way my cure was to leave fan on at speed 2 and leave DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS ON, which was enough draw to keep alternator at generally 14.4 or more open circuit reading at the beginning or close to beginning of drive. I also would try to put a noco 5amp maintainer on battery for 2-3 days every 4-6 months. When I gave my crv to my granddaughter I had 64 months on my 4th battery. I was told that delaying battery charging would increase mpg by reducing load on alternator. I also loved my cigarette style voltage meter which I kept on most of time so I could see the 12v bus voltage. FYI my hybrid maverick 12v bus voltage will read in cold weather (less than 45°F) will read 14.6-15.3°F presumably running heat pot to get dang battery temp up some before ice warms up and takes over, but who knows....
If they had told us that in 2014 or 15 when the first 2 batteries were replaced, we could have done what you did (or something similar), but they just kept telling us they didn't know what caused it until right before we sold it. (heavy sigh)

Honda NEVER told me either. I figured it out when I put meter in lighter style plug and saw voltages and when I turned on something that pulled pretty high current and saw voltage jump high. I read the delay reason about two years ago from a post somewhere. I don't believe the dealers even knew what was going on and they were just ,(most at least) were just following codes and written test procedures. Honda couldn't risk exposing it as epa mpg test would be affected. Everyone I told to do what I did thought I was crazy or at least confirmed it.

I can't remember if I figured it out on my own by researching on the internet, or if the Honda guy told us and I confirmed it on the internet. Seems like I figured it out by searching the Net, and then the Service Manager told us they had known about it for years. The internet confirmed that too.
