so the manual says, use tire gauge not TPS…and not for aftermarket tires/wheels
I assume everyone that swapped out the Steelies are withOUT TPS?
I’d rather have flat protection myself

I suspect the part about the sensors not being designed for aftermarket wheels is there to prevent people from using them in random incompatible wheels. As long as you use sensors that are compatible with your wheels, you should be good to go. Whoever installs your tires should be able to figure this out.

Although I drove vehicles before TPMS was mandated, I wouldn't do it again. The old days of only realizing that you had a flat tire when the car started pulling or whomping sucked.

Just to avoid confusion, TPS is a throttle position sensor and TPMS is tire pressure monitor sensor. I have aftermarket wheels and my stock TPMS work great.

When I swapped the OEM 17s for 19s on my escape they re used the OEM sensors and they work fine.
