Buying a set of steelies for a winter wheelset, I would typically go to RockAuto, but I see sets (4) on Ebay for $35 that are 433mHz too...can anyone suggest/have experience where I can pick up a cheap set?
TIA 😊 🙏

Ebay or Amazon are fine. You can even get a set that are dual frequency, just in case you want to put the tires on a vehicle that uses the other frequency in the future.

Lot's of fakes on eBay. They may work but they don't last as long.
agreed

I bought OEMs off eBay, but only ones that I could see the sensors to clearly read the where made info and other markings and that the packing was in not so perfect shape - i.e. likely to be legit OEMs and not chinese knockoffs.

When it comes to stuff like TPMS, you're likely to get what you pay for. I've seen lots of people say the cheap ones on Amazon and eBay are fine, but many more say they don't work/read properly or last as long. I considered some of the cheaper ones, but I didn't want to have to replace them again in a year or two, or have the truck not be able to read/find them. I ordered Schrader TPMS from Advance Auto Parts, and picked them up at my local store. They were $129, but Advance is doing a 20% off over $100 sale, plus if you sign up for an account with them, they give you an extra $5, so all total, I got them for around $100. That seems like a lot, but from what I've seen on the internet, the Schrader TPMS are what Ford uses as OEM. Mine were installed with my wheels and tires at Discount Tire last week. They programmed them at the store, and the truck picked them up right away. I can see them in the FordPass app, and it showed me that Discount overinflated 3 tires and underinflated one, each by a couple of pounds. Anyway, what I'm saying is, sometimes you have to pay a little more for something that you absolutely know will work, instead of rolling the dice on something cheap or a knock-off.

Ok, bought the Bosch units from RockAuto for $86.18 shipped w/tax to NY. Used discount code:

298827585266271770

To save 5%, help offset the $6.99 shipping fee at least. Not worth the hassle, not knowing what your gonna get from Ebay.

Well my highend Schraeders from Amazon lasted about 3 weeks, all 4 of them. Definitely knockoffs.. Bezos and company removed my review about the 'longevity' of the merchandise, citing I violated the rules.

So beware..

The killer is the labor you spend getting them re-installed after they fail... So, I'm driving around with a TPMS warning ony truck with 16k miles.

I literally have had no one say, buy these, here is the link, I've used them for X years, etc... So, I feel like I'm taking a risk buying others... At the same time Discount tire wants like $250 for 4, and locally Ford dealership wants $450 installed... No thanks... I keep a tire gauge in the glove box.

When someone points me to a link, on a proven set, at a good price, that they've bought and run on their 2024 Maverick for more than 6 months, then I'll consider replacing the TPMS sensors again.

Just so much crookedness from the Amazon and Ebay sellers .. Evil geniuses, many of them.

I can't imagine stock st RockAuto lingers for long, nor would they sell Bosch fakes, so for $85, I'm set without worry and peace of mind. Remember the old adage "buy cheap twice" or " buy once, cry once".

Let us know how it goes. I paid more than that and received fake Schraeders .. if these Bosch last more than 3 months, pass it in .. I'd like a good source to get mine again.

Well, I just put on my summer tires to my Kia Stinger and the TPMS's are not registering, maybe I'll swap them in it and report back in a few months. Otherwise it'll be a LONG time before I exercise them as my winter set on the Mav. I've a long driveway, off grade, steep pitch and a switchback that is very love-hate. Love the privacy, winters can be a bitch...

I bought these over a year ago.
Held up just fine, and self learned to my Maverick.

IDK...your not saving any money from the Bosch units from RA and the reviews only give them a 3.8/5
Hardly worth the risk IMO, but if you live in an area with Amazons overnight shipping option, I can see a reason...

When I purchased them they were only $59.99, and they’ve held up just fine.

If they are not registering:
Just drive it down to Discount Tire and get in their 'Free Air Check' line. Tell them your TPMS sensors are not registering and they will probably link them to your vehicle for free with their little wireless device. That’s the fastest and easiest way, in my experience. Once you electronically link a new sensor, the old one is pushed out of the system so if you switch tires twice a year you will need to relink them twice a year.
