Towing Question - what does 4k max weight include?

With the tow package the Maverick can tow 4000 lbs., but what weight counts in this 4,000 lbs.?

Do we count the weight of the driver, all the passengers, the junk under the rear seat, and the tool box in the bed, or just the trailer weight?

Yes. Your truck will list a specific actual total weight limit on the doorjamb where it also lists the tire pressure limits, etc... There are some threads on this forum with folks posting some examples. Things like a moon-roof versus no moon-roof factor into it, etc... Just small weight differences between options on each truck.

Draw weight. There is a difference between payload and draw weight. My Airstream Basecamp 16x is 3650. With all the gear, my old fat butt, and a cat, I am under total GVWR by about 25 lbs.
You need to know the tongue weight of your trailer, as well as the total weight. The tongue weight of my trailer is 450 with propane and water, and the GVWR of the Maverick AWD Fx4 with 4kTow is ~5200 lbs. So it struggles a bit on steep grades but it runs fine on the highway. And I can pull it up fire improved fire roads fine.
There are two permanent stickers on the driver's door frame that tell you the rating of the vehicle. The Fx4 with tow package XLT shows the payload limit of 1325. And the tow-package of 4k which is the max weight the unibody can handle without folding up like a card table or tearing it in half.
The best thing I can say for you is to call Ford Customer Service or use your Fordpass app and ask Ford for help.
