Mike,
Welcome to the forum. šŸ¤
No opinion, No advice, just reference.
Here is a great thread to start with.

100+ bed tonneau cover aftermarket options - compilation

Good luck,

So--I'm an "old widow lady" with a 2024 Maverick Hybrid (FYI: purchased before my husband passed away) and would like a tonneau cover that is light enough for me to manipulate and at a price I can afford. I can probably get someone to install it, but I would still need to be able to open and close it by myself. Thanks in advance!

I bought the Truxedo Sentry CT about 24+ months ago. No regrets! Bought it from https://tonneaucovered.com/

It’s kind of hard to tell but looks like itā€˜s started wrinkling along the side edges is that correct? Also your picture appears to show outlines of the aluminum supports is that what it’s showing? I can’t decide if I like that canvas style or not but glad you like yours.

Yeah, it is a little bit wrinkly on the edges, and you are able to see the aluminum supports... I'm happy with it. :)

MavStangVa since the Rough Country aluminum panels are so light do you think they flex much!

I watched a RC video and I see you open the flip up by squeezing the lock release instead of pulling on a cord. Does it take much hand strength to do that?

You said you worked at trying to seal yours from leaking… are you saying just expect some water leaks? Iā€˜m planning on having my dealer install mine hopefully if he sees an obvious issue he’ll fix it.

So I'm getting my 2025 AWD EcoBoost Lariat in a couple of days, I'm coming from a 2003 Ranger FX4. I had a Access Lorado Soft Roll Up on it for 10 years exactly and only had to replace the release strap once. It never leaked and I never had to adjust to tighten the canvas. I loved the cover except that the surface faded to a dull gray/dirty looking and even a detailer couldn't bring it back.

Now I'm looking for a new tonneau (willing to spend up to $1500) and am considering a hard roll-up or hard folding. I've read a lot of recommendations here but just as many say it has too many issues. While there are many brands to choose from I see BAK mentioned a lot and models like the BakFlip G2, BakFlip MX4, BAK Revolver X4s, and BakFlip F1 in particular.

Now every time I find one I like either a YouTube reviewer or someone here say they are nothing but trouble. I originally thought I'd like the X4s but now I'm hearing about the material separating and it's just a matter of time. Do all hard rolling covers have this issue or just BAK?

Also thought the MX4 would be a good choice but then just as many negative reviews than positive.

Do all new hard folding and hard rolling have issues compared to say my Access soft rollup or soft roll ups in general? Nowadays do you just have to expect some issues no matter the style?

I guess what's important to me is it functions great, and the cover surface doesn't fade or scratch much over time... I won't roll or fold much so mainly covered. Also as much trouble free as can be expected.

Well I checked prices and installation with my local dealer and with taxes the Sentry CT is just a little too much for me.

I've went back and forth on different brands in both styles but I'm going to choose specifically between the two below... a soft and a hard. I've had the Lorado on my current pickup for 12 years and no issues but maybe a Hard Tri-fold might be nice. Should the fact that my Lariat has a spray-in bedliner and the drain holes might be plugged, be factored into the equation? Thanks!

(1) Access Lorado Soft Roll Up (Going to run $677 including install & tax)

(2) Rough County Hard Tri-fold Flip Up (Going to run $1022 including install & Tax) Is this going to easily dent if you run into a hail storm which I never have? Is this going to be hot to the tough during summer which you fold it up?
