I noticed the tailgate had no seal and and there is a decent gap all around.

For those with a Tonneau cover, how much if any water gets sucked into the bed through the tailgate gap?

I looked and only found generic fit seals. Most don't seem thick enough. I installed the non-specific Extang seal but there is stall a gap. Not a seal like I am accustomed to on other pick ups Ive owned.

Im looking at adding the Extang Trifecta 2.0

I have the factory tri-fold and when it's installed in the proper position, there is a gap at the tailgate. My cover wasn't positioned properly from the factory, so I adjusted it. That left a gsp large enough to see into the bed. I wasn't too keen on it being that way and repositioned it, so that it would be above the tailgate.

Took it through a car wash yesterday, to see how much water would get in the bed. To my surprise, there was quite a bit of water in the bed. I'm thinking about adjusting it rearward, to where the front edge is flush with the adhesive weatherstrip that the factory installed at the front of the bed. I could then mount a piece of the same type of weatherstripping on the underside of the cover, where it contacts the tailgate. It may work, or it may not. We'll see...

I was having issues with the cover's prop rods not fitting properly. I will either have to live with it, or cut them down to where they work.

The gap I am talking about is where the bottom and sides of the tailgate meet the bed. I don't have the bed cover installed yet. So I am trying to figure out a solution to seal the tailgate to the bed before I put on the bed cover.

I know from past experience that air and water will find its way into the bed through the tailgate gap even when I had a hard top on my old F150.

I'm surprised by how much gap there is between the tailgate and frame on the sides, especially near the top corners. I can see light coming through if I have the bed light on with my cover closed.
Tomorrow I'll be receiving some 'tailgate seal' and hopefully it will at least reduce the issue enough to be acceptable.

i will be putting a foam double sided to cover that side portion and btw no matter how you adjust the hard trifold factory you will get a leak here and there. I made several adjustment and left the car sits while it’s been raining last few days. It ain’t bad just spots here and there. I also tried pulling it back or forward but it will cover the brake light at the rear. Finally it touches the first rubber seal an d almost to the second seal I’m leaving it like that.
