I've actually been trying to figure out how much bed space a hard roll up would block when retracted and had assumed around half a foot for it. If you'd guess a retractable would only eat up 6", how much are you guessing one would lose with the hard roll up?
Here are some photos posted in the Velocity Blue section that should answer some questions.

Since I'm not likely gonna be hauling big items frequently but would more value the ability to cover what I WILL be putting in the bed, I'll likely go with the hard roll-up cover, especially with quite a bit of annual precipitation here.

How about keeping dirt and debris off the bed? I never had a truck but I figure dried leaves, bird poops, and dust is also a consideration for a cover. But then again, it's probably much easier to clean the bed than the cover itself.

How about Ford 360? Is that worth it/necessary? My wife's has a car with all the bells and whistles and cutting edge safety technology which doubles as our family car. Since I'm ordering the base XL, should I just really keep it basic? The price is what attracted me to the Maverick and the more I lower the price the more I find it attractive!
The 360 can be a real asset in that backing up and having the cross-traffic alert you could save you from being t-boned in a parking lot. The Maverick is going to be a lot longer in the rear end than your average car so you'll end up stick more of it "out there" before having a clear view. This of course isn't true 100% of the time, but for pennies on the dollar those little sensors could save you from being hit or from hitting something or someone. That's my 2 cents.

I guess I shouldn't skimp on safety features. Plus, I get a standard size spare! I'll just keep my build the way I had it then. Ford better get their sh*t together and start production already before we change our minds lol!

I sent my order and after seeing Ford's version of a hard cover roll up Tonneau cover, I'm kinda thinking of removing it.

The reason I chose it in the beginning was to protect the truck bed from getting dirty. But I chose the spray in bed liner. So my question now, how durable the spray in bed liner would be? Can it withstand rain, extreme hot weather?

Having the tonneau taken out would be significant in keeping my order close to stock, thus being cost effective from my stand point. Will I be missing out not having it factory installed? I know after market like Truxedo will have something similar almost the same price and without installation.

Or maybe not have it at all? I'm not planning on keeping anything on the bed that would require constant cover. The soft cover in my opinion doesn't warrant the price tag.
The steel beds of pickup trucks are designed to last the life of the truck, even with heaps of abuse and neglect. Bedliner and tonneau cover optional!

Yeah, but you generally want to put something in your bed.

Bare paint easily scratches, and once scratched below primer can potentially rust. With out some kind of shock absorbing, even just the thickness of a liner, stuff is more likely to dent the bed and its also very slippery so stuff will slide all over.

There's also the matter of protecting what you put in the bed from rattling around on bare metal.

Personally, I don't even have a spray in liner, and looks like new more than a decade later. I went with a thick rubber bed mat along with a tonneau cover. If going bed mat, you need the tonneau because otherwise if in the elements 24x7 stuff will work its way under, which otherwise you only have to worry if you fill it up with dirt and what not that goes over the edges in which case you just pull the rubber mat off, clean it, let it dry, and throw it back in there. What I like about the thick rubber bed mats is that they are way more shock absorbing and anti-slip than just a bedliner alone.

I think the only thing I don't really like are plastic drop in liners or carpet type, which I'd avoid.

This time around I'm probably going to go with the factory spray in bedliner and toss in a simple heavyweight deezee style bed mat. I have it on the tailgate right now, but if I do spray in I think the gate is fine w/ just the spray and will be lighter.

Tonneau I'm still on the fence about what to get, but am leaning towards a soft trifold, but probably aftermarket as the Ford options seemed pricey but we'll see.

*deep sigh* These look so dopey
I thought it was just me. I like the functionality characteristics of the tonneau cover but that one looks bulky for the Maverick. Maybe if it didn't come up that high. Reminds me of a hiking backpack with a rolled up tent.

Also that Ford logo on it calls too much attention!

That’s why I like the soft roll up, it is less obtrusive.

I'm a little surprised that's not an option for the Maverick at build....

Not sold on any of the Ford tonneau options, but interested to see the aftermarket choices. Although, I'm not sure I'm going cover my bed. I live in DC so I'm thinking if people see a covered bed they'll assume there's something worth stealing in there... 😂
