I currently have the stock FX4 rims with the 225/65/17 scorpion tires. It is almost time for new tires and I wanted to get something alittle beefier looking. I don't want to add a lift to the truck or anything. So I am considering 235/65/17. I am able to get a good deal on that size for Falken Wildpeaks AT3w. I just don't want to mess up my mpg/speedometer terribly. I've looked across the forum and I have seen mixed answers regarding those issues. Anyone have any additional feedback?

I ultimately like the look of 245/70/17 but I think that would be too much for the truck and cause more issues regarding mpg/speedometer/lift.

235/65/r17 wildpeaks are standard on tremor and were an option for fx4's. The speedo can be calibrated to that size. Mpg impact is minimal. I just replaced my scorpian tires with firestone at2 in 235/65 r17 because they are comprable in performance but weigh less than the wildpeaks.

245 70 you may experience rubbing at full lock and expect mpg to drop 3-4
I think 235/70 is perfect for this truck if you want larger than stock size. Taller and narrower than the 245/65 most seem to be getting. But not very many options in 235/70.

Thank you for the response and info.

Tire size calculator here will give you the difference between stock and whatever you want to change to: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Speedo change calculator: https://tiresize.com/speedometer-calibration/

Tire size can be changed via Forscan, but I think it maxes out at 235/65R17 (the largest stock size).

For size, I recommend staying away from the 245/70R17 because they either run at lock or are very close to. I personally run 245/65R17 and wish I went narrower and taller with the 235/70R17.

What do you like about the 235/70/17? What benefit versus' 65?

Taller sidewall tire, which would give me marginally more ground clearance off-road. Narrower, so potentially a bit less mpg hit, but that itself might be offset by the fact that it raises the truck a bit more compared to the 245/65R17s.
