Tips for accepting delivery

Hey Maverick community. I'm hoping to get delivery of my truck this week (according to Ford's estimate) and was looking to get some tips as far as what I should pay special attention to when self inspecting the truck. It's an XL hybrid. Have there been any common issues from the plant?

Ha, I agree, but you're far from the first person in it. People at the factory may test it, the delivery driver needs to drive it onto the truck, the service techs need to be in it for pre-delivery stuff, etc.

Not a quality issue, but be aware the most of the interest rates available for the Maverick are explicitly for 2022 Model years. Ford wasn't able to offer any decent rates for me so I had to finance elsewhere.

If you are considering a Ford ESP warranty, be sure you go online and price one before you let your dealer sell one to you for way too much money...or, like my dealer tried on my last Ford...tred to sell you a useless 3rd party warranty at 3 times the price of the good Ford warranty.

Thanks for that link to use as a tool on extended warranty cost. I work at a Ford dealer. If I remember correctly, our dealer sells extended warranties to employees for $100-200 over cost, but I love being able to see pricing to compare $ and decide if a reasonable price or not. I don't always buy extended warranties, but if I get my Maverick (hopefully pretty soon), I probably will since I intend to keep it for quite a while.

I made the following demands a week before delivery:
- Dealer will not install dealership decals on my truck.
- Dealer will not drill and install front license plate bracket.

Make sure you are not in a rush when picking up your truck.
o Dealer should take the time to setup and teach you All about the FordPass App.
o Get the "official" ESP warranty from https://www.floodfordesp.com/
(No rush on this.)

o I recommend GAP insurance if not paying cash.

1. Bring a good flashlight with you to inspect the paint.
2. See if you can test drive it first thing. Some people here are reporting Squeaking windshields.
3. Make sure the dealer installed latest TSB 22-2493 for grabby breaks.
4. Check the oil to make sure it's not overfilled.

I'm going to stop now. That's just some of the things that I did.

How long do we have to purchase esp after we take delivery?

Lowest pricing is during the first 12 months, 12,000 miles. Goes up a bit after that until 36/36,000 (length of factory B2B). Technically it may be possible to add it as a “new vehicle” ESP up until 41/40,999.
