So I ordered a hybrid Maverick in the dealership back in August. Never heard a single thing from Ford. No order confirmation, nothing about the hybrid delay, nothing. So I called the number provided in the big hybrid forum post the other day, finally talked to someone. Gave them my sales code and order number but they couldn't find any record of the order.
She did say it is common for dealers to change out the order number. So I contacted the dealership again and they sent me an updated order number and a VIN. This got me a bit more excited, but upon checking the Ford order status page, I see this...

Which says Ecoboost engine. So did my dealership redo my initial order which created a new number and select the wrong drive train? Or is this maybe a hiccup and when the window sticker is available it will be correct?

Ideas?

I really hope this is just a glitch in the matrix here and not that they accidentally ordered an ecoboost. Since that would mean you'd now be stuck until next summer to get a hybrid.

You'll need to contact your dealer again to get to the bottom of this. Either they mixed your order up with another or they possibly just gave you the wrong VIN.

Thanks, I had figured as much. How screwed am I going to be if they have to re-enter my order with the correct drive train? I know it's not a first in first out situation but figure I'll move way further back in line.

If your order was not submitted as a hybrid you won't be getting a 2022 hybrid. Orders are closed for 2022 hybrid models.

Oh fun. So it will either be get an ecoboost sooner, or wait another 9+ months to get a 2023 hybrid Maverick.
Lovely.

Thanks.

So back in August when you supposedly placed your order did the dealership not have you come in and sign some paperwork and get a copy of your drivers license?

Yep, did all that. Even put $1000 down. My order sheet they printed off had the right options, power train, everything.
I contacted them a couple days later to inquire about the order confirmation email I should have gotten, that is when they noticed they put in the wrong email. Supposedly they updated that, but still never got any notifications.
Aftet contacting Ford, then the dealership, I see the order number changed (by one digit) and the new order has all the options I choose, just the wrong drive train.

Yeah I misread your OP and after rereading it sounds like your dealership really messed up. Now it kinda seams like they are trying to cover their tracks by giving you an order for one of their stock units.

I guess the only thing to do is give them a call and see what's going on but like has already been mentioned I think it's to late to place an order for a hybrid and even if it's not ordering this late will put you into May/June of 2023 for possible delivery.

Dang! I would take whatever came in!
Would this be the first 2nd guess here? Here goes = They found they had boobooed and had not actually ordered your ride, frantically grabbed their computer and since limited availabily hybrid bell had "dinged" had no choice but to go with EB!

I'm wrong often.

But I would go in to dealer and ask to see order that's submitted in your name. Including incorrect email. Dealers are not above telling fibs. They now have a Hybrid coming in for you. But saying OH we made a mistake their is no vehicle. So dealer is seeing a 5K market adjustment and all they have to do is convince you there is no Maverick Hybrid in your name.

Did you get the 4K tow package? I recall ford upgrading some hybrids to eco boost for free if they ordered the 4K tow package.

I did not. Just a hybrid XLT with lux package. The hybrid engine is why I'm (attempting) to purchase one.
Will hopefully have time to get to the bottom of this today.

Well after calling the dealership they realized they screwed up. And since it already had a VIN, no way to change it. So they put in another order for a hybrid, to be met with a message stating hybrid engines were all allocated (paraphrasing) which we all knew. So now I get to decide if I want to take an ecoboost model in a month or so or wait until the 2023 model year, or say screw it all, walk to blocks and buy a frontier.

Fun fun
