I ordered the ‘23 XLT with LUX, 360, SIBL, Hard Rollup Tonneau, and Mud Guards. I love the idea of electronic adjustable seats and mirrors so my wife can change the setting if I allow her to drive Mervin.

I live in South East Arizona (15 miles from Mexico), but I will use the heated seats (and lumbar support) and steering wheel because I am spoiled. I look forward to remote tailgate locking, and the keypad on the B pillar. My dealer will tint all windows and add door edge guard tape.

I decided that I was going to order what I wanted, not necessarily what I needed.

I know. I could have ordered an XL and upgraded at time went by, but at my age, and with my current financial situation, I decided to get it up front.

I loved the XL option when the Mavi was introduced, but since my order, I really haven’t tracked the price difference, especially if I thought that I was going to spend another $2K or so on upgraded rims and tires, and then another who knows what adding the features that I missed out on.

And, I hate to admit it, but I LIKE the XLT interior color, especially in my Cactus Gray body (both the truck and my physical body color!).

(BTW, I avoided the Lariat simply because I DONT like the color of the fake leather.)

Posts #2 and #3 covered it for me. I ordered a Hot Pepper XL with Copilot and hitch. I'll get some takeoff wheels when they get more plentiful. Is the 400W outlet available on 2024 XL?

I doubt that cruise control helps with fuel economy unless your drive is down hill both going and coming. It DOES help avoid tickets though.
My C-Max got better mileage without the cruise on. 👍

If you have a lead foot, cruise probably improves fuel efficiency, but that isn't it's purpose. For those of us who drive with efficiency in mind, easy to beat it with our right foot.

I love my 23 XL and saw no advantage in spending more for the XLT. The more subdued interior is an advantage IMO and I haven't missed power mirrors as the XL's are set and forget. The Steelies with the addition of beauty rings gives it a distinctive look, hides the wheel weights and sets you apart from all the other Mavericks. A full size spare rather than a doughnut makes little sense as I don't think it comes on an alloy wheel. It's trendy to black out the grill of higher line Mavericks but the XL comes that way. I've actually enjoyed adding bed tie downs to the XL which are standard in the XLT.

I understand. There are studies that show it helps a little- 7% or more, but the studies may be by folks who wanted a positive outcome. Driving a PHEV for years, my impression was that it helped a bit.

Peace

It does. It keeps your acceleration constant on fairly straight roads for long stretches. If you are driving for like an hour or more usually your speed fluctuates as your foot tires and you put less pressure on the pedal then you correct it.

Not to argue, but when I use cruise control, I feel the accelerator kick in when the vehicle speed drops below the cruise control speed. Especially when on a slight incline. Generally the cruise control kicks in a lot harder than necessary, or than I would with my foot, so more fuel is required.

You can test that by checking the instantaneous fuel economy screen. With that said the CC has finer resolution control of the acceleration than the input from the pedal.

This ☝

And if Mervin the Maverick would use Cruise + Eco mode, they would find their hybrid usually gets better highway mileage this way, vs trying to beat the computer with their foot.

After reading all these opinions, that's why the Maverick is such a great vehicle. Everyone has different needs for one, and they can order a truck close enough in price, and options to suit their reasons for buying one.

Like most of the folks who ordered the XL, there was little in the XLT that I needed for the additional cost. First day 2024 orders opened, I ordered XL hybrid, Atlas blue, with the co-pilot 360 for safety (power mirrors and full size spare are a nice add), hitch, and bed mat. Through sheer luck, ordered at MSRP from a local dealer who had no 2023 carryovers and a good allocation. Build is scheduled for week of Oct 30

** I did find a thread that was very close to this post that answered a bit so thanks in advance for anyone who reads but I will always appreciate ideas of you still want to give them!!**

I've read and understand the differences between an XL versus XLT, but I am curious with there's anyone here who regrets getting an XL? I currently have an XLT on order but after some interesting conversations at home there are some things I wanted to add but since I'm already scheduled I couldn't. So I've been looking at placing a second order but choosing an XL this time because the only things I really need are the 4K towing and the co-pilot. I'm not thrilled about how small the color choice became but the savings per month makes up for it. I think the loss of some other stuff seems worth it. Sure power locking tailgate would be nice but I don't know if I require it. And there's no more secure lock keypad so I'm not really missing that. A back seat drink holder isn't really something that I've ever needed before. I think the only thing that stood out is the XLT gets a perimeter alarm? And then the only other thing is that I would definitely want to change out the rims at some point, but I don't mind the steelies for now. I guess most of my question is about the interior at this point. I used to not like the black seats but they've kind of grown on me with the atlas blue exterior. But is there anything else that seems different or might be missing? Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you!

It really depends on you needs.

Whether or not cruise control improves fuel efficiency is completely dependent on an individual's driving behavior. It may help you and not someone else (definitely doesn't help me). Bottom line is fuel efficiency is not the primary purpose of cruise control, if it were it would act much differently in the real world (ie. not attempt to maintain speed while on an incline).

I have an xl, only options i got were ecoboost/awd and the spray in bed liner.

Probably gonna regret not getting the 4k tow package someday, but hoping its post warranty and just blast the interior heat to manage coolant temperature.
