That is a lot of tires and wheels for that price. I got really lucky.

Same tires and wheels with 500 miles on them he was asking $450 I offered $250 he took $300.

TPMS did not work so I had to pay Discount Tire $56 to put my TPMS from the steelies in and I had to spend about $60 on lug nuts. I was OK with that.

I live in Colorado Springs, I have Blizzaks on right now but when Summer comes around I was looking for another set of wheels. I have a '23 AWD Mav.

Someone near me is selling four Wildpeak AT3 with Bronco Sport rims for $850, they are brand new with TPMS.

What do you guys think, is that an appropriate tire for mostly road use, maybe some dirt roads occasionally? Obviously the biggest concern being the price.

Alternatively, it would probably cost me $900 for brand new trail tires with labor and $400 for used Bronco Sport rims.

Appreciate the feedback.

Seems a little high to me. $650 would make more sense to me.

I have the Wildpeaks 235/65/R17 on my FX4 and I’m very happy with their performance. I drive mostly on road and they’re smooth and quiet. Like one of the other posters mentioned just don’t let the psi get too high, sweet spot seems to be between 33-35 for me at least. I’ve also tested them in snow, rain, slush, ice and they did really well in all those conditions. That price seems reasonable for what you’re getting.

I think this is true for some tires, but not all.
I remember reading the basic 225/65/17 continental have less tread than the same tire if you buy it outside.
You "remember" reading....somewhere?

There are certain tires like the Michelin Primacy that have ridiculous small tread depth to begin with because they designed for fuel efficiency plain and simple.

Unless you can provide a reputable source with tests that back up the claim that OEM tires from the factory are different than the tires purchased second hand have less tread depth you are simply parroting a myth you "remembered reading somewhere"

Especially after the entire Ford/Firestone Wilderness AT lawsuits a manufacturer (tire or auto) would be bat shit crazy to knowingly put a foot in those waters again.

Believe what you want, but don't forget your tinfoil hat when you do.

It's normal for an all terrain tire offered in many sizes for the larger sizes to have more plies, more load rating and more tread depth. If it has multiple load ratings in a single size, you almost always have more tread depth on the heavier tire.

That doesn't mean the sizes that fit a Maverick aren't good choices.

I ran at02s on my Wrangler for MANY years and toward the end of their life my balding ones got me to work 30 miles away in 8" of snow when many others with mudder style tires and 4wds were in ditches. Probably more my driving abilities than actual tires, but I didn't slip once. Since then I bought at3ws for my Ram... still have them after 6 years and I swear by them. My truck went from 15.8 to 16.9 mpg avg switching from the hts that were on there when I bought it. The only decision on replacing my Mavs tires is do I want the AT3Ws or try out the AT Trails...

I did end up buying the AT3W wheels but I haven't installed them yet since it'll snow a few more times and I might go into the mountains w/ my snow tires.

If you go off roading a lot, get the AT3W, if you don't, get the AT trails in my opinion. The trails will be better for on road performance. That's assuming you're purchasing them full price - if you get a deal then I think it's more about price.

I used them to off road in my Jeep and play in the mud. You'd be surprised how well they hold up to snow and mountain driving.

My "snow" vehicle is my Ram 3500 quad cab 4x4 dually on 6 wildpeak AT3Ws. I live 1.5 miles back from a paved road so no matter where I go it's 3+ miles of dirt/gravel. I think they are one of the best for wet... never hydroplaned in my Jeep running them when others around weren't so lucky. Only real wet competition in my opinion is sumitomo htrasp03
