Thinking outside the cubby

I have put together a few things for the cubby on my Maverick. I did my Give-a-Damn switch .. I have a gnome with a working fire place.. for Halloween I have a ghost with a haunted house in the background that lights up. I started off with an idea for a Christmas theme.. but it became to complicated to make it compact enough to fit in the cubby.

I ended up making a box and staining it. When the switch on top is pressed, the fireplace lights up and LEDs twinkle. When you press on the present next to the tree it sounds like a music box winding up and it plays a Christmas tune.

Instead of going in my Maverick this will end up on my wife's desk. Even though this didn't end up in my truck, I think this turned out really well so I thought I would share it on here.

Here is what I have so far... Fun little projects trying to fill the cubby. The first was my "Give-a-Damn" switch... I took apart a "useless switch" and rebuilt it to fit the cubby. Every time you turn the switch on it turns itself off.

You could probably make and sell those. I could imagine one themed for every part of the year, and a universal plug in with magnetic base so they can be swapped out.

These mainly developed because I had an idea and wanted to figure out how to make them work. I don't have a background in electronics so modifying things by breaking down components and learning to solder has been fun. Not sure I want to make these on the side but I wouldn't mind working with someone to develop something for the cubby. I've tossed around the idea for a magnet, it makes good sense.. so far these are pretty snug.
