Peering under the hood today and I spy, with my little eyes, evidence of some foul critters loafing around my Mav, on the topside of the front wheel liner.

The mav has been sitting idle for the past week so I’m hoping that these guys were just cruising through. Gotta try out the peppermint oil treatment.

My cat hates them for me. He's on the job.

I use a milk jug to serve up rodent bait blocks. Cut off the threaded part, use sand as weight, lay on side and add the poison blocks. Cats and dogs can't get in but mickey and company can.

We have a huge problem with pack rats here in the desert, them sumbitiches did $800 damage to my F-150! Harbor freight sells solar power/battery rope lights cheap, I zip tied the lights under the hood and exposed the solar collector through the grill after the repair. The lights have two modes, blinking and continuous, I set them on blinking to save battery life and piss-off the rats. Not an issue since, I do get comments in the parking lots about the disco party under my hood though, LOL.

My co-worker had to have her car towed to the shop after it failed to start. When they opened the hood, a ground squirrel(woodchuck) ran out of it, and they chased it around the shop for some time before someone ended it all with his long Johson bar. She was in for $3000 in chewed up wires, fried sensors, etc. We also have a significant population of red squirrels, grey squirrels, and other rat cousins on the grounds. We've considered assassinating them, but it's not a realistic option in an ideal habitat for them. Also, I want to keep the buffet open for the pair of Goshawks.

I'm not giving any rating, endorsement, nor claim that it is effective, but I've been using this under my hood ever since the ground squirrel bashing incident. I like the smell of it and I'm doing something and not killing anything (with the exception that I did have a (collision) with a ground squirrel, which the crows devoured within 24rs.) The crows and vultures must eat too, right?

Been there and had that done to me in early 2022. In my case it was rabbits and the wiring harness that is strapped to the rear end deferential.

Luckily I’ve got a couple of super knowledgeable mechanics local and when I told them what my brand new truck was doing they knew immediately what was likely wrong.

Had it repaired in less than 10mins and would not let me pay them a dime.

Just an FYI- I have covered all the exposed wiring in chew proof sleeves and sprayed with an underbody rust inhibitor that is noxious to rodents. In addition I put rodent deterrent devices under the hood. I also built a new garage that is adjacent to the house where terror twins are on patrol for all manner of rodents. (Including skunks, unfortunately.)

Those are Hybrid mice. They must have broke out of the battery charger motor.
