None of this is surprising. My brother was #3 guy at Toyota plant in San Antonio until VW lured him away. Got an insider plant tour once and saw a presentation that said 60% of the entire Toyota truck sales volume in the US are in the gulf region. I can believe it having been in San Antonio for 5 years. Lots and lot of trucks.

My local Ford dealer (NS Ford) has not reacted once to my Maverick reservation, so I ordered mine out of Selina Kansas (Long McArthur Ford) as they said that they will ship it for free unless it costs them > $1K.

I ordered the Lariat with a lot of bells an whistles, frankly because I'm married and the wife would need Dual Zone unless I wanted a divorce. Lol.
How was McArthur for pricing? At or below MSRP?

Right now I am being quoted at MSRP. Which I am fine with. Once I get a VIN I will request an X Plan Pin and we will see where it goes. I wasn't going to haggle too much since it will be shipped to me for free.

Do they require you to finance through them in order to get the free shipping? I thought I saw that on one of their videos but I might be wrong.

Yes but in my case I will finance with them and then pay it off in 2-3 months. So, I don't really care who I finance through.

Howdy,

From DFW, communicating with Five Star Ford right now. Has anyone been able to locate an actual Maverick at an Auto Show/Auction/Dealer(for training)? I want to confirm the interiors before deciding between XLT and Lariat. The XLT looks perfect but I am just one of those people that needs to feel it before placing an order.

Thanks!

I've watched all the YouTube videos from Long McArthur Ford! There internet sales manager is amazing with sharing all their information. If I cannot locate a Maverick to get my hands on to confirm sizes and interior I will be going to Salina, KS on August 10th when they get their Maverick for their dealer training.

I'm in the north DFW area, put in my order at Five Star Ford in Dallas with a $500 deposit a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the XLT in Cactus Gray with the 2.0 Ecoboost, AWD, 4k tow package, FX4, and a couple of other bells and whistles. Figure the Maverick won't necessarily match up in the land of F150, Ram, Silverado, etc. but compared to something like a Civic that I was possibly going to get it will be pretty darn useful for my needs.

I put my order in at Bob Tomes Ford here in McKinney, TX. $200 deposit and received a confirmation email from Ford within a few days. Area 51, 2.0T, XLT, AWD, 4K Tow and FX4. I drove a 1993 GMC Sonoma for over 10 years and have had sedans since then. I'm ready to get back into a compact truck and Ford rung the bell at the right time. I like everything about this truck and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Maverick community comes together for this little dynamic frame.

740 miles! WOW! I knew it was a long ways but I never actually looked up exactly how far. About once a year I get to El Paso, well, the airport anyway. I fly from Dallas to El Paso, rent a car there and drive to Ruidoso, NM where I visit some very good friends of mine for a week or so. 740 miles. Really? Sure gives you a sense of how big Texas really is.
It is big... 800+ miles North-South, and also East-West. ;)

I'm also in Austin. Put in a reservation for Cactus Gray XLT. I went with Mac Haik Ford in Austin.
I've heard mixed things about them (based on the Bronco forums), but so far been a great experience. No deposit required at all and selling at MSRP. They are not excepting X-plan at the moment, "but that could change."

We Ridgeline owners would often get together for lunches and compare and show off our Ridgelines, mods and accessories.
I would not have suspected that Ridgelines would be very popular in a truck-y state like Texas.

WISH WE GET A TEXAS EDITION. Highly doubt it, but would be awesome. I might buy the badge just for the shits. Everyone from my work is gonna make fun of my small truck.
I got a generic "TEXAS EDITION" badge and stuck it on my Frontier LOL. The placement among the other badges on the tailgate make it look OEM unless you're familiar enough with Frontiers to know that there was never a Texas Edition.

Combined with the Buc-ee's sticker, the "Don't mess with Texas" sticker, and the license plate frames from Texas Nissan of Grapevine, a passer-by might think I'm a Texas transplant in California.

I'm from rural central California and currently live in Los Angeles. I visit the DFW area a couple times a year for work and/or to see friends. I'm hoping to move there in the next couple of years.

Looking as a potential new vehicle to fill my needs of hauling smaller loads of various things as well as the mpg for all my road trips.
Same. For me it's not so much the MPG, but the cruising range of 400-500 miles that is appealing. My Frontier can barely eke out 250 miles before the low fuel light comes on. I wish the Frontier offered an extended range fuel tank option, or got better gas mileage, or both!

Cruising range was the only reason I had two long bed F-250s. I wanted the short bed for the maneuverability, but the short beds only came with 28-gallon fuel tanks. The long beds came with 38-gallon fuel tanks. The new long beds come with 48-gallon tanks.

Figure the Maverick won't necessarily match up in the land of F150, Ram, Silverado, etc. but compared to something like a Civic that I was possibly going to get it will be pretty darn useful for my needs.
Yeah, compared to other pickups, the Maverick ain't much. But if you compare it to vehicles in the same price range, it holds its own as a standout value.

For perspective, the Maverick XLT with Lux package is about $1,000 cheaper than a Camry LE Hybrid and is similarly-equipped. And the Camry can't carry a washing machine, bulky furniture, or ten sheets of plywood (well, safely anyway) and isn't rated to tow at all.

Yes, the Camry gets better gas mileage. But if you drive 25,000 miles a year and gas is $4 a gallon, the Maverick will cost barely over $800 more in gas per year than the Camry. I think the extra utility of the Maverick is well worth the fuel mileage drop. It's not like the Camry at 51mpg vs. my Frontier at 16mpg. That'd make the choice a bit tougher.

My brother was supposed to be advising Fisker Motors on their electric SUV manufacturing construstion in the US by now. I wonder what happened to that plan. Lol. He's been after me for years to buy a Tacoma or Tundra since he served as senior vice president, quality and production for Toyota’s Texas operations in San Antonio. Two years ago he said to me "the electric revolution is coming, quicker than you think", so I asked him when Toyota was going to make an electric Tundra, and he laughed. He's gonna be mighty mad when he finds out I ordered a Maverick. lol. I don't think that I will tell him until I pull up in his driveway in Chattanooga.

Hi, l am in Dallas and ordered Lariat trim from Chapman Ford, PA at about $2000 less MSRP w/o any deposit. Dallas dealers aren’t ready to go a single dollar off MSRP.
It will replace my Civic as my daily driver. I hope to get better MPG and as bonus can use it for trips to Costco, Home Depot, Hiking, etc.

I was really intrigued with Chapman myself but it’s going to cost anywhere from $1,200-$1,800 to get the Maverick shipped from PA to Dallas/Austin.

I wonder if it’s really worth it.

I’m here in Houston and placed an order with Mac Haik Ford off of the Katy Freeway. No deposit required and I received my order confirmation email within an hour of talking with Nathan, the sales rep. Great experience so far!
