"The Mav Signal" (Maverick Wave)

Every time I see another Maverick I wave like an idiot out of pure excitement. It’s fun to see the same vehicle as yours and it’s still a rare enough occasion!

It's no secret that we, as Maverick owners, are privileged to be in such an exclusive society. Ford still isn't cranking them out like crazy yet and the supply still has not quite met demand either.

That said: I feel compelled to salute every Maverick owner I see on my travels. I feel an unspoken camaraderie with them/you guys.

I usually end up acknowledging that by giving them what I've deemed "The Mav Signal". I just give a littlein passing-which, when I position my hand where my pinky and thumb are pointing upwards, it kinda looks like...you guessed it...Maverick horns!

Just trying to gauge the community on this one: Is it cool or am I nuts for doing this? (My daughter thinks it's the latter.)

That’s funny I have been thinking the same thing but I was thinking more like the “W” as done for west coast but upside down to make an “M” as seen in Malibu’s Most Wanted but “M” for Maverick

I'm an OU fan. This is a Longhorn sign. "Include me out."

That said, some kind of acknowledgement is nice. Back in the days, we British sports car drivers just waved to each other, although there was a "seniority" chain on who waved first. The Porsche folks would blink their lights at each other. Years later, when I got my Miata, I would wave at Miata drivers, who NEVER waved back. Half of the were women, which I suspect might have something to do with it. I miss the good ol' days, but please come up with something besides "hook 'em horns."

To wave or not to wave? To each his own,,, with all the crap going on these days I think its nice to get a wave or give a wave. It might make someones day? Also, I enjoy being apart of this maverick Truck Club we have here!

I've only seen a couple of Mavericks in the wild. The first one I saw was pulling into a parking lot, I WAS pulling out, but put in reverse and waited till he got out. The truck just looked sharp and caught my eye. I have mine ordered (building first week of April) but hadn't had a chance to speak with a real owner. While I have read this forum for months, most of it is very positive-there have been things that concerned me, but I wanted to talk to a real owner and we did for about 45 minutes, super nice guy from Chicago heading to Florida in his Maverick. Answered all my questions and concerns and I happily wait for my truck to be built and delivered soon.

You know, you get your Maverick and drive it for a year or so, and you forget the anticipation and frustration as you waited a year or more to get the thing. Nice to see folks are still excited. Not nice to see folks are still waiting. I hope production catches up to demand soon, and that everyone can drive down to a dealership and just grab a Maverick off the lot. One can hope. I also hope that the Maverick becomes such an omnipresent appliance on the road that you'd no sooner wave to one than you would an F150.

When I bought mine, one of the salesman threw up his "Mav signal" and it was like holding up three fingers, but upside down so your fingers make an "M." I think about that every time I see one.

I have always tended to at least throw up a hand when I see someone else driving what I am driving, whatever vehicle I have owned, in all of the 51 years I have had a driver’s license. If it happens to be the same color as mine , my wave is a little more enthusiastic.

I like the idea of flashing the hang 10 sign. Some of my relatives are Hawaiian and they sign with the index finger included. I would wave no problem, I drank all the mav cool aid and bought more! I’ll ride the wave till it’s not fun anymore🛻

When I first saw this thread, I thought someone put an MTC sticker on their headlights.

I had a new record, I saw 6 mavericks in a 10 mile round trip around south Dayton OH. I waved at three and I got two positive responses (both were Lariats) the other was not interested. He was in his own world. The others were parked in the parking lot.

2 Cactus Gray, 2 Atlas, One Cyber Orange and one Area 51 (he was the one not interested).

P.S. I also saw two Santa Cruzes, they did not wave
