Hey all, I'm having an issue where I had to factory reset my ACM module on my XLT and now the TCU doesn't seem to be working with fordpass or give me any connections options other than mobile hotspot settings. I can see the truck has 4-5 bars of signal when going into the hotspot settings. And I've tried pulling the fuse and disconnecting the battery along with following the troubleshooting steps on the app. Any suggestions on how to get the TCU back up and running? Kind of gotten used to having the fordpass app.

What do you mean by a factory reset since a rather specific phrase?
How was it done exactly? Hard reset steps?

Because like Forscan Lite has a function to Reboot a module.
But the required VIN encoding and settings, and modem info are kept.

If it still has the VIN info, setup was totally redone on it (my salesman jumped in and did mine, so never saw fresh screens).

Only listing for the sake of completeness.

ENABLING AND DISABLING THE MODEM
  1. Press Settings.
  1. Press FordPass Connect.
  1. Press Connectivity Settings.
  1. Switch connectivity features on or off.
CONNECTING FORDPASS TO THE MODEM
  1. Make sure that the modem is enabled using the vehicle settings menu.
  1. Open the FordPass app on your device and log in.
  1. Add your vehicle or select your vehicle if already added.
  1. Select the option to activate your vehicle.
  1. Make sure that the name on the screen matches the name shown in your FordPass account.
  1. Confirm that FordPass account is connected to the modem.

I went into the settings and scrolled down to factory reset menu option on the touchscreen. Selected it and the system reset to factory defaults and rebooted itself.

As for the steps you provided, when I go into fordpass on the truck, the only thing I see is the hotspot connectivity settings. The connection settings for fordpass aren't there. So I'm not able to switch connectivity on and off.

When I attempt to connect with my phone, the app finds the truck after I enter the vin And does make an attempt to connect to the vehicle. Except I don't get the prompt on trucks screen to accept the connection.

the more I think about it and Google stuff. The more I'm leaning towards a warranty claim.

Here's a pic of what I should have. Except the connections settings under the hotspot settings is missing

Ya - that doesn't sound like something disabled.

And ya that reset isn't as bad as I thought it sounded.
Just factory defaults is all.
Which is off, but your option to turn on is gone now.

Actually - I'd System Reset/factory default again.
Maybe 5 min negative battery disconnect.
Probably the 1st things the dealership is going to do. Unless you like their waiting room and they have free donuts!

Because WiFi hotspot requires the modem to be on - so this is more of a display issue.
Either it's on and correctly showing the WiFi option, but not the Connectivity settings.
Or it's off and incorrectly showing the WiFi option but not Connectivity settings.

Not a bad idea. I'll give it a shot after work today while mowing the lawn and report back. Lol sadly my dealership doesn't have doughnuts. Out of curiosity, I found that the truck can connect to my house wi-fi and check for updates (says it's up to date). Does that go through the same modem as fordpass?

Nope. That's a WiFi module only. Works when the fuse for the modem is unplugged.
Cell service module is to AT&T.

And the only update is the non-Sync radio update.
I think I had 1 radio update since Apr last year - I stopped checking now.
Got the recall update for the rear-view camera issue.
That upgraded the module, and the radio anyway.
Now I don't bother checking since I'm doubtful anything is being worked on - but perhaps I should enabled updates and check again.

I just don't want something firing off almost nightly just to see there is nothing out there.
Or worse getting stuck in some loop and remaining connected asking if there is constantly.

Reporting back from yesterday. Did a factory reset then unhooked the battery for about an hour while mowing the yard. Hooked it back up and didn't see the connection setting. So I did another factory reset and still nothing. Also just drove 15hrs on a trip and it never popped up.

Gotcha. i can understand the Wi-Fi and cell modules being separate.

didnt know we only had one update since last year. Wonder if there's a way we can check some kind of update history on Ford's site.i haven't had the recall done yet. They'll probably do that when I take it in for the TCU.

Did you manage to get Connectivity Settings restored and if so do you know the cause ?

I purchased a Fiesta 4 months ago. I've replaced the TCU and ACM and done all sorts of horrible things with Forscan but still no Connectivity Settings and no modem ESN in Sync.

A helper is now suggesting the gateway module.

Any info really appreciated - Thanks.

You might confirm how that system is setup compared to the Maverick.
Truck has the GWM that hangs right off the OBD port.
It talks to 2 duplicate modules (forgot the name) that actually have the network lines hanging off them, with all the other modules on those networks.

So if one whole module was unseeable from OBD port - that's 2 modules the info is going thru.
So if one of those was down - you'd be missing a bunch of modules.
And one of the other modules likely should be complaining about lack of communication with the TCU specifically - though I've seen those errors be very module specific, requiring a Read All reread type thing, initial scanner connection didn't see it.

Just didn't want you replacing GWM if the setup is the same. Because it could be the network line is no good - maybe the TCU is on the end of the line, with a break in line. Or maybe it's in the middle with another module past it - and both aren't visible.
Wiring - ugh.

From what I've read in the various Ford forums, some modules will require a PMI "Programmable Module Installation" via Ford's FDRS at the dealer or by using a Mongoose+ for Ford, or another compatible device.

FDRS specifically requires support for the J2534 protocol.
Currently FDRS is subscription based for two days @ $120 and recommended to use a separate email account with Ford other than the one you use with Ford Pass to avoid a complete block of your account.
That can happen if Ford's new AI based cybersecurity thinks something isn't quite right with the login.

ACM
The ACM requires PMI when it is replaced.

TCU
The TCU connects the vehicle to a cellular network. It contains a non-serviceable internal SIM card.

Programmable Module Installation (PMI)
PMI is a scan tool process which configures settings in a new module.
Data used for the PMI process is automatically downloaded from the original module and stored when a scan tool session is started.
If this data cannot be retrieved from the module being replaced, the scan tool may prompt for As-Built data entry or display a list of parameter values that need to be manually selected.
Some modules are reprogrammed during PMI when a strategy/calibration update is available.
It is important the scan tool identifies the vehicle and obtains configuration data prior to removing any modules.
The new module must be able to communicate with the scan tool in order to carry out PMI.
