Got a call today from Ford dealer telling me to come pick up my Maverick XL AWD w/2.0. Wasn’t expecting it for another 2 weeks. So Saturday morning I’ll finally get to drive it home and start installing all the accessories I’ve been accumulating. Thinking it’ll put a long awaited smile on my face. Wife gets her Toyota Corolla hybrid in 2 weeks, so we’ll be set vehicle wise for quite some time. I’m thinking the Maverick will be way more fun to drive. Let you know my impressions after I’ve put some miles on it.

Congrats! Wish mine would get scheduled, I'm tired of the big box of floor mats in my garage. Trying hard not to buy an more accessories until I get a VIN.
Your handle caught my eye, I don't think I've ever seen someone with the handle of the Grand Admiral of the Imperial German fleet. :) I'm sure there must be a story?

I’ve been interested in naval history since I was about 10 years old. My current car is a BMW so I’ve been using that handle over on BMW sites. Seemed appropriate.

Plus old Tirpitz had some serious whiskers and looks good in a thumbnail. All those old admirals had interesting faces.

I was a combat sergeant in Nam. I was known as Sergeant Hell due in part to my last name and kick ass attitude.

How long a wait for the Toyota?

The Corolla won't be very exciting but it will probably never break and last for 300,000 miles. Toyota knows how to build a reliable hybrid powertrain.
I’ve had lots of Toyotas and found them to be extremely reliable. Not a big fan of complicated drivetrains, but my wife insisted on a hybrid for the great mpg.

You likely won't have any issues with the Toyota hybrid system. Here in California the Prius is like a cockroach- you can't kill them. I still see 1st generation Prius running around. I live in a very eco-conscious town and for a while it was like 25% of the cars were Prius. Now all those people are switching to Teslas and the Prius are moving down the automotive food chain.

This was one of the reasons I was willing to order a Maverick. I know the Ford hybrid system has a lot in common with the Toyota system and tends to be very reliable (provided they can properly solder the wiring harness!).

I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. Probably should have gotten an EV, but I’d prefer to wait for the solid state batteries.

We had an EV for three years. For local driving they work great. If you have to cover distance you still want gas.

I also agree with what Savage Geese points out in his Youtube reviews of EVs. They have work still to do on refining the drivetrains. Give it a few more years and they are going to get better and better but right now there are still significant advantages for old school gas and hybrid cars.

2-1/2 weeks.
Wow will have to check that out. Like the Toyota and Honda hatch. Maybe keep my F-150. See what happens on Aug 2nd. It's not the wait so much but all the confusion about the ordering process. I expect more of that come Aug 2nd.

I did a 200 mile road trip in the sedan version of the Civic and it is very good. Only thing I did not like was the CVT. This was the base non-turbo motor.
