Alright, biking season is finally around the corner and I’ve found a tailgate pad that fits amazing, it’s the Raceface T2 pad in the small size. Fits perfect with no trimming required, has a very nice felt back side to prevent scratches, and holds the bikes in well.

For reference, the bike is a size large, 29er.

Looks good. Did you carve out a little space for the back up camera instead of lifting the full flap?

Just curious....what is the preferred method to load/unload your bike with a TG pad?

the bottom of the opening actually fits perfect so that the camera is barely exposed. Also the opening is made up of 2 pads so you also still retain access to the tailgate handle as well.

not sure I quite understand your question, so feel free to clarify I don’t fully answer it, but I just lift the bike over the tailgate with the tailgate shut.

the maverick has a fairly low bed which makes loading the bike a lot easier than on other trucks I’ve loaded.

Yeah, that's it. Kind of assumed this would be the method, but wanted to hear it from someone with experience.

I have a bed rack from my F150 that I'm hoping I can modify to work in the Mav......if not, I may go this route.

Thanks for the info!

Can you use the Rear camera if you are just carrying one bike on the sides?

I bought the new Yakima Gatekeeper and the camera hole is too small and the strap lines up with the camera anyways. Looking at different options now.

yes, you can with this one, however, you’ll see a bit of the wheel in the camera. Still usable though!

Perfect. Going to order the T2 and return the Gatekeeper.

Any thoughts on carrying a Sur Ron like this?
im not sure I would recommend it. My buddy has a Sur Ron and I’ve only seen him carry it like a dirt bike in the back of his truck. He has both a hitch KUAT rack and a tailgate pad that he uses for MTBs, but always carry’s the Sur Ron in the bed of the truck.

Gotta assume there is a good reason for this.

Anyone try this with a rollup hard cover yet? Can the rear wheel be pushed to the side to accommodate more space between the rear window and the tire?
