This is a lot better than my duct tape fix. The best option so far IMO .
You can get scrap screen fabric from your local hardware , For Free.

Tailgate is steel. I’ve used a product mainly used in the HVAC market when cleaning furnace ducts picture included. Any of the big box companies carry it.

Does this stay on your truck? I read reviews of these from Home Depot and many say they do not stick well and the furnace blows them off of the vent. What has been your experience on the Maverick tailgate?

I don't mind a vent or small access hole. The problem here where I live are those dirt dobber wasps. Those little devils will pack a full yard of mud in that tail gate. I have had them cut through fiberglass screen. Need to cover enough of the openings so they can't get their construction equipment inside.
