Switching from Android Auto to Apple Car Play

I recently changed cell phones from Samsung to Apple. I use a Geocaching app that uses Goggle Maps to navigate on my In Dash Screen. (Like a nav system would). So, far I haven't had any success enabling Apple Car Play. It seems to be searching for other cars on my Cap Play App on the phone.
